oh btw the cards lost

Were they playing one of our wild card rivals? That'd suck.

All interleague Mon-Thu so no. They are playing Minnesota. So hopefully Minnesota has to use all of it's pitchers in a win over the Cardinals tomorrow.

Good day all around outside of Pittsburgh winning. Mets, Nats, Giants and Cards all lost.

Nationals wouldn't be in the playoffs if the season ended today. Before the season, I thought they were the best team assembled within the past ~5 years.

That's all great, but there's no avoiding the fact that the Cubs never get hot when they need to. The Pirates have won 20 of 25 and the Cubs haven't. That's not the sign of a team built for the playoffs.

I'm convinced that a large swath of baseball fans have some kind of Platonic ideal of a playoff team that not even actually qualifying for the playoffs is enough to meet the criteria.

Rondon Fan's arguments convinced me.

Hah. I was going to say that you are much too respectable of a poster to be posting that garbage

Baseball emo.

It's more a win than 2-1, but fun to watch. And that should be worth something. If nothing else, they made the pythag theorem their bitch.

like how bad would he have to be behind the plate to not be worth 3+ wins if he hits like .280/.370/.470-.500ish

do you not believe in catcher framing anymore?

Reports on that have been optimistic.

either way, i believe in it, but i also don't believe it's anywhere near certain that he's automatically so bad that it would make a good LF bat at C not be a very valuable player.
