Rondon is great when he is on, but i think trading for a new closer would definitely #1 make the pen deeper #2 make my nails way less teeth bitten.

And mortgage the future for a rental?

not sure it would cost the future to be honest even papelbon would add to the pen and his contract wouldnt really make us have to sell the farm.

The word is the Phillies will take on the contract for better prospects.

Absolutely not.

Rondon has been stellar. His slider generates above MLB average whiffs (19%). He rarely loses his command (2ish BB/9 since 2014). When the opposing team does hit the ball, most of the time it's on the ground.

What more do you want from a closer? He gets whiffs, doesn't walk people, and doesn't get hit hard. His overall xFIP since 2014 has been around 2.8. We have a closer.

Come here and post more.

Don't worry, this crazy guy isn't representative of the board. We just let him start a lot of crazy threads because it's good luck.

We need a new 2nd baseman. Russell is great when he's on, but I think trading for another 2nd baseman would make the infield deeper.

We need a new shortstop...

/sees Castro's WAR at -0.5

We really might need a new shortstop.

yeah new SS plz

the problem with not going full meatball and not wanting to overreact early on is that when you finally do react and want to get rid of guys they are like worthless

last month has seen us with the worst bullpen xFIP in baseball, and no other bullpen has controlled the strike zone worse

thats pretty eye popping there --- who would have thought the starting pitching would end up being the strongest area of the team

the starting pitching being strong is far from surprising

i would have expected our offense to be pretty good and the pen to be pretty good before the season started. the rotation i thought was going to be slightly above average

You thought a team starting the season with Montero (who struggled last 2 years), Coghlan (who struggled the 2 years before last year), and a combo of Olt, LaStella, Coghlan, and Herrera at 2b and 3b would be pretty good?
