So Batista hasn't started a game since low A but they have him starting now in his 3rd go round in AA. Just roster filler at this point I assume?

I admit, it is somewhat fascinating to see how well Batista is doing as a starter. Don't get me wrong, definitely filler unless there's some report on newfound velocity and/or stuff, but it is somewhat fascinating. Furthermore, his K rate is roughly the same as the last 2 years out of the pen in AA. Makes me think about situation/opportunity - here's a guy who never had a great fastball (best report I ever heard was low 90's, and seems a lot had him in the high 80's), and had a good slider. There's enough starters that worked up to AAA with that loose, generic profile, but he was shifted to pen duty early.

Would like to see Underwood striking out more guys, although I wonder if they have him on any specific regimen. Hope to see him pitch in a few weeks.

You fooled me there. With the game shot of someone coming around 3rd after a home run I thought Javy had hit it during the game. It took a second reading to see that it was during BP and you were just showing a photo of where that is located.

Im content with Underwood's progress. He's got 3 plus pitch potential and is locating better, which beyond

samples/luck might explain the low babip.

Once he gets to AA, the low strikeout (although only .005 lower than last year) would become an issue.

Anyone hear an update on Torres status? Noticed he was not in the lineup for Southbend and there were reports he came up limping on the way to first yesterday.

Well hopefully he heals and it's not a pull or a tear. Rarely hear about a "sore hamstring" it's usually a DL stint when a hamstring is involved.
