I'm pretty ignorant of these things but I don't really see a lot of bite on Lester's pitches. Seems like they're staying pretty flat, even the breaking stuff doesn't have a lot of downward tilt.

playing middle infielders at 1B ranks pretty high on my list of baseball pet peeves

Explain.

it's just nasty roster management; all teams should have a better bench option than having to waste a usually light-hitting, short, defensively-unaware throw-away there

like the Friars can just give Kemp some reps there for his inevitable future home, and play Amarista today

I was thinking the opposite. His cutter has a lot of bend when he wants it and he's doing a good job of burying breaking pitches when ahead in the count.

Yep. His heater seems to be working for him now, but his breaking stuff isn't quite there yet. Feels like he's still late in spring training. He needs that cutter working to be successful.

I always looks to me like Bryant takes too long to get rid of the ball, but then he unleashes his cannon and beats the runner by a mile.

He's going to get Rizzo killed though if he keeps throwing to the left of him like that though.

I've said man, he's taking a while to myself a couple times now and then he guns the guy by a step or two. Definitely has a big arm.

Pretty great slide by Kemp.

Indeed, Herrera's incompetence was the difference between 'good effort but still out' and 'wow he's actually safe, well done'

another great throw from decrepit ross

Eh, the throw was fine, beat Kemp there easily

Little bit on the wrong side of the bag, but adequate.

Did anybody else see Herrera clip Kemp's jersey before he reached the bag??

First time I saw a tag was Herrera finally getting Kemp at about the belly button, he was safe.

Yeah, but not blatant enough to overturn.
