You could barely read the "CHICAGO" on the TV sets of the day. It was changed the next year to be more legible.

The Reds are celebrating the 1990 championship team. We're just being good sports.

Oh I thought wrigley for some reason. All that decade stuff last year is still in my head.

They should do steroids to honor the era.

They're also giving away some sort of "NASTY BOYS triple bobblehead" the next day

And you get the fine Michelin 3 star dining of a McDonald's Extra Value Meal per game if you buy a ticket pack for 6 games

That script is this closest this wordmark ever came to appearing on the field.

Very popular on T-shirts and Wrigley giveaway caps of the era. Seemed very out of place to my eyes at the time. The modded version of this came out in 1991 and lasted until "Cuba" showed up in 1994. The 1997 edition got the "Chicago" much closer to that used pre-1982.

Hard to believe that the Cubs' standard home and road designs will be 20 years old two seasons from now.

With the roads, that is pretty crazy. Remember them debuting those pretty well.

The homes have looked more or less the same though since, what, the late 70s? Early 80s?

I know there have been some subtle changes (different bear on the sleeve in the 90s)...and I loved the 80's throwbacks they wore in the Rays series last year. But yeah, more or less the same.

Home changes were subtle to be sure.

The walking bear showed up in 1997. The last of the Cub "faces" debuted in 1994, and that set featured a thinner pinstripe and lost the sleeve trim. 1990 brought belts and buttons, the first real changes since 1979.

1988 version on the left, 1994 on the right.

The 1988 polyester is much thicker, much more coarse.

They just changed the script on the front from CHICAGO to CUBS last year didn't they?

That's the road alternate. CHICAGO is still the standard.
