I just don't see Auburn or FSU being top 10. USC, TN and Georgia will surprise this year IMO.

Tennessee's preseason reputation cracks me up. "They went to a bowl last year, things are looking up!" [ignores they haven't won 8 games since the Bush administration]

To be fair, they are only ranked 25th. The Vols have the skill position guys and are in the much weaker East. I could see 8-4 or so.

ND RB #2 Greg Bryant out for the season for failing to maintain a C average, extending the streak of important ND players getting tossed for academics before the first game to 3 seasons.

Patrick Kane is a huge Vandy fan.

How stupid can their marketing people be? How long ago was their rape scandal?

Well the two guys convicted still haven't been sentenced, to my knowledge, so not that long ago.

Most people are more shocked to learn that Vandy has a football team.

It sucks, but he wasn't really that important. He would have been the third string RB. Plus this may give Ishaq Williams his roster spot back.

It has a lot to do with us bringing back, I believe, 23 players which is either the most in the SEC or in the nation. We've also had a pair of great recruiting classes and finally showed improvement for the first time since Fulmer was at the helm. There's a bunch of really exciting, young talent on this team and a coach considered an up and comer (I'm not as high on his coaching ability, but the man can recruit).

That said, it is still a young team that has a few holes left and a few more questions, so you don't want to get too excited. That being said, I put the baseline expectation at 8-4 and think that's completely realistic with the potential for a major breakout next year. Barely in the top 25 or barely out is perfectly reasonable to me.

I think you're pretty spot on there, though I expect one win among the OU/Ark/UGA/Mizz group.

Looks like Bama's star LT Cam Robinson broke his foot today. Was carted off. Not good for them.

Also, Auburn's Duke Williams, probably the SEC's third best receiver behind Treadwell and Pharaoh, is "not currently with the team" and his "return is unclear" according to Malzahn.
