I'm amazed anyone browses this forum any other way than "View active topics" at this point

Most of the active topics are football or basketball related and I personally don't watch either, so I don't browse by active topics, I browse the forums I read by viewing which one has a "New Messages" icon next to it.

huh? those are like, what, 5 threads? still much easier than checking all the baseball sub forums for new posts.

Point is I don't want to wade through all that and some social posts when I habitually check and read each forum for new posts all day as they arrive. It's more difficult to find all the new posts I care about using the active topics route.

I'm never wrong

Board Index tells you which forums have new posts

Each thread tells you if there are new posts

You click the ones you want then click "Mark Topics Read" to clear the board

Rinse and repeat

Or you could do it your way and see a bunch of random, unorganized threads

Hate to agree with Derwood, but he's got this one right.

Bingo

Agreed. Not to be anti-social, but I'm here for baseball.

I might actually care about organization if there were more than 3 active threads per sub forum.

I see what's actually happening and see when there are active threads from subforums I probably wouldn't otherwise visit. My brain can handle not clicking on the ones with titles I have no interest in.

Whatever. It's 2 or 3 clicks no matter which way you slice it.
