Problem is there isn't anyone in this organization who can do a firing, who doesn't also need to be fired themselves. I seriously can't think of one person, from top to bottom, who should stay.

Good news is we're going to lose these last two and pick solidly in the Top 10. I can't believe how fast Trestman's ship sank.

In other news, emery spoke before the game about how much of a joke the kromer situation was. Made it clear he wasnt happy with apology or the fact that the apology is why the news leaked in the first place. Noted that punishment was trestman's call despite not agreeing with it.

Wishful thinking or confusion?

This article uses "respect" a lot. Talks about the system and doesn't mention disagreement (which IMO would be silly to say unless you were saying it to announce his termination).

I don't know what Chicago football is but looks like the writer presented it differently than the Trib guys that mentioned it pregame.

They were less willing to treat it as ho hum speak but rather read between the lines with a fm talking about the coach deciding not to punish.

While he does make clear it was Trestman's decision, he doesn't go anywhere near showing disagreement, just dissatisfaction with the situation as a whole. So I don't think Trestman is going anywhere yet.

Not anywhere near is an odd claim.

I get you can read between the lines a little on the statement but "we support Marc in his decision." makes it pretty clear, at least in regards to any immediate change.

It was a very Emery-ish statement, though. Working in Reagan's assassination attempt and Haig?

The people I follow on Twitter had the same interpretation of Emery's comments as you did.

Christian Jones had 13 tackles (8 solo) and didn't look like complete ass out there. Of course when you're playing beside Bostic and McClellin, you're bound to look good.

It was pregame, they weren't going to fire him then. My comment about sooner was related to trestman being unavailable to media this week. Perhaps the pathetic mnf effort accelerated events.

we want to lose the rest of the games, right? then why is firing Trestman so important?

Yeah...and I don't get the calls to bench Cutler either. I mean, even if you think he's the worst QB ever to grace the football field with his presence, why would you replace him?

My thought on trestman is his future employment is in flux. I want him fired now to be sure he's gone. If he stays something may happen to ease the pressure on him. (Cutler concussion)

If he's fired he can't come back. If emery hires an interim then there is nothing to prevent a front office overhaul in January.

While I ultimately agree I don't think Pasquonoli or Tucker as interim is going to do much to turn the tides at this point. It'd mainly be for fan satisfaction because until he is fired there's gonna be some lingering concern the next two weeks that he isn't canned but a firing now seals it.

Beyond that the best justification for canning Trestman now vs the end of the season is that you feel the lockerroom is just so toxic you aren't able to evaluate these players the last two games. Other than possibly that it's just appeasing fans.

I agree with everything here, but the last. Not sure how having an interim necessarily makes a full overhaul more likely.

they're going to have to wait a lot longer than that. trestman isn't going anywhere.

Please stop saying that. It's Christmas.

I didn't say it made it more likely. I said it is still possible to do it.

Now 8 of 16 most accurate passing games vs. the Bears since 1960 (min. 20 attempts) happened under Trestman/Tucker pic.twitter.com/iAfATDGMSQ

Slightly misleading because of the league wide improvement in QB play, but another damning stat for the Trestman regime. At least they haven't allowed any more 50 point games (yet)
