From the comments section under Greenberg's (halfway decent) column this morning:

A group of us who watched faithfully every game are now through. We won't watch another game this year. Still Bear Fans. We will instead meat for lunch on Sundays.

That should probably go in someone's sig, or at least become part of the "meatball fan" lexicon.

Posted
To be fair, a bunch of random dudes slapping each other in the face with assorted cuts of raw meat IS an accurate approximation of watching a Bears game right now.
Posted
Of course they had a great practice. Look at what defense the offense was practicing against.

Maybe I'm meatballing, but I think that's what it looks like when a pro sports team gives up and doesn't care en masse.

The 20-second long screen pass that slow ass Eddy Lacy scored on is a perfect example of a team quitting.

Yeah, that will be exhibit 1 for god knows how long.

Possibly until next week

Current position

Title Lord Savior/Almight

Team We do not know to be honest

In 2010, Trestman released his first book as an author titled HOW TO HUMILIATE AN ENTIRE CITY: Life Lessons on Leadership and Teamwork.[25]

that's... stupid and bad and pointless

someone also updated the Bears wikipedia page....listing Aaron Rodgers as owner.

EDIT: it got changed back already.

That's funny.

That's actually kinda funny in a sick and shameful way.

Preview of PFF ratings:

Chicago Bears – Performances of Note

Brandon Marshall, WR: +1.4

Breakdown: One positive from that debacle for the Bears last night was the return to form of Brandon Marshall who notched only his second 100 yard game of the season. Marshall looked at his powerful best after the catch, breaking three tackles to take his season total to eight, all of them in his last four games.

Signature Play: Got the Bears’ only offensive touchdown at 7:57 in the third, high-pointing a jump ball against Sam Shields before putting him down with a stiff arm and lunging through Ha Ha Clinton-Dix’s tackle for a 45 yard score.

Jared Allen, DE: -0.4

Breakdown: Busts on the back end allowed the Packers to pile up the points, but a lack of pressure up front gave Aaron Rodgers ample time to work. Allen racked up seven pressures (3 Ht, 4 Hu) in Green Bay last season, but could only pick up three hurries last night as his struggle to make a consistent impact as a pass rusher in Chicago continues.

Signature Stat: After eight starts with the Bears, Allen has 26 pressures on 260 pass rushes. His pass rush productivity score is 7.7, a small drop on his 8.0 with the Vikings last season.

Jay Cutler, QB: -5.1

Breakdown: For as good as Cutler was last season he has been that bad this season with only his display against the Falcons’ leaky defense a reminder of last year’s form. Though he was unfortunate with the bounce on his pick six he also got lucky with a pair of dropped picks from Casey Hayward and Davon House in a performance that offered little positive from Cutler himself.

Signature Stat: With no pressure (27-of-41 dropbacks) Cutler earned a passing grade of -4.1, completing only 15-of-26 for 158 yards and an interception.

And one special one for the Packers:

Julius Peppers, OLB: +7.0

Breakdown: Against his former employers Peppers rolled back the years with a big game as a pass rusher, earning his highest overall grade since he arrived in Green Bay. His four pressures (1 Sk, 1 Ht, 2 Hu) included a strip sack of Cutler as well as batting a pass and deflecting another that led to the Packers’ first interception.

Signature Play: Set the Packers up for their final score in the first half rounding Michael Ola at right tackle and closing to a hesitant Jay Cutler to force a fumble which he recovered at the Bears’ 42.

Apparently PFF graded the Bears defense overall at +0.4 yesterday. There goes any respect I have left for their rating system.

Shea McClellen had a +2.8

One city has produced Kane West, Obama, and now Marc Trestman. Your move Chernobyl.

Marc Trestman was a dead man walking in the 1st quater when Aaron Rogers put the clown shoes on him. I never trusted Trestman to begin with. Right from the get-go he spells his name like some kind of a Parisian street artist so it makes you wonder whose really pulling the strings behind the scene. You talk about missing the Mark folks its like his name should obvously be spelled "Mark" but he trys to throw you a curve at the end instead of just going for the K- you know who else would of done that? Clayton Kershaw. Neither one of those guys will ever win a championship.

Its time for Chicago to face the facts- they need to clean house. Im not just talking about the coach, or the GM, or the quarterback. Im talking about trading the entire franchise for a new set of legs for Derick Rose or social service system that works or just ask the Blackhawks if they can play football too. Never throught Id say this but the model for how to treat a bad NFL team, you can look no farther then Oakland.

7. Bruce Arians could win 10 games with Cooper Manning at QB. No one embodys the next man up philsophy more then Arians who was literaly ready to pull the plug on Pagano a couple of years ago to send a message to the Colts.

hahahaha

What did it give the Packers? a 12 on offense?

I forced myself to enjoy this game. I was mentally prepared for a god awful performance at QB and on defense. I mean, it can't get any worse then this.

I'm very interested to see what the organization does from here. Fans and the media wont stop with Tucker being fired, it has to be Trestman and potentially Emery.

That may be what they are stuck doing, but think about what you are advocating with those first two picks. Two more picks allotted to the defense after that side got the top three this year and two of the top three the year before. The Bears have used one top 3 round draft pick on an offensive skill position player in the past 5 drafts and that is going to come back and bite them eventually. They have a declining Marshall, a nice but limited Jeffery, a consistent but unspectacular Forte, garbage at tight end and a declining Cutler. There is zero explosiveness on the offensive side of the ball. No big threats. The offense is basically limited to bullying their way down the field with big receivers and no hope of the homerun. That takes time and allows a defense to adjust and take chances that will not be exploited, and that leads to turnovers.

All of this.

This team is built entirely around its skill-position stars, and they aren't *that* good and seem to be declining.

All of it is true, and reason for even more pessimism. After putting focus on defense, we've got nothing to show for it and now the offense is declining. Special teams suck as well.

All 3 units either a bad joke or spiraling down into the abyss. No coaching to help matters. A GM who thought it was a good idea to go CFL over Arians. Arians shaking his head and going to Zona because of how weird things were in Chicago.

I mean, total [expletive] nuclear catastrophe.

Nonetheless, the hapless Chicago Bears were spitted and fondue'd 55-14 by the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night, and I awoke Monday morning to find a ripped-up, half-burnt Cutler jersey lying in a heap on the sidewalk near my Chicago apartment.

I am not a Bears fan. I have no idea whose jersey it was, but someone appears to have ripped it from their body like a clergyman tearing his robes. It also looks like they used multiple cigarettes to light the jersey on fire.

Well our GM uses the system religiously. That's all you need to know about PFF.
