Both the agent, Alan Nero, and Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer, had little new to say about the situation at the general manager's meetings in Arizona as both have repeatedly denied the accusation.

 

"It's embarrassing," Nero said.

 

Previously, Nero was adamant there was no tampering involved.

 

Nero was saying the Rays asking for the tampering investigation is embarrassing. The way Rogers worded it makes it sound like the Cubs and Maddon are embarrassed because they got caught. Or, it at least is not clear. The key word is "previously."
