just a random thought i had while browsing that list, but did huntington come after or before the pirates were doing that marine style boot camp stupidity?

Edit: Before. I thought about that too. I'd be willing to take him off the list, but isn't he doing exactly what Friedman did, just with a bit more lead time?

It was under him is what I was trying to say.

how does one get to mold young minds while being borderline illiterate?

I can read fine, I'm busy, so when I type on the iphone I don't worry about spelling that much. I'll match my accomplishments with yours any day.

Josh Byrnes (San Diego).

You mean the guy who got fired from that job, immediately took a position on MLB Network, and within a couple weeks of his new job had to answer awkward questions on air like "Why do you think San Diego's front office situation is such a mess right now?"

Dang. Good thing I didn't put him on the real list or nobody would take me seriously...

Imagine if his replacement was Duane Underwood.

Didn't mean to insult with that, I just like bringing that situation up because seeing the defeat in Josh Byrnes face when he had to provide a legitimate analytic answer to why he got fired and why his former FO from two weeks earlier is in shambles without talking about himself was awkward bliss.

I wasn't insulted, it was funny. I just remember him being one of the young up-and-coming guys, having worked with Epstein and O'Dowd, and I checked Baseball-Reference to make sure he still ran the Padres this year.

I seem to recall that we tried to get Byrnes either in addition to or instead of Jed Hoyer. Not entirely sure which (or if the rumors were even true at all).

instead of. he was the candidate we were hearing for GM before we realized we could get Hoyer (and that SD may have even preferred Byrnes).

Wow. Dodgers scouting director is leaving the Dodgers for the Padres. Probably the best scouting director in baseball.

Hmmm, he had interviewed for the GM job this past summer.

Logan White?

Oops, thought I included his name. Yeah, Logan White.

@JHamrahi: Preller has added Don Welke (Rangers), Sam Geaney (A's) and Logan White (Dodgers) already. And the World Series isn't even over #Padres

Wow, Logan White is a huge pickup for the Padres.

And it sure takes some of the sting out of the Dodgers picking up Friedman.

Wow, that would be a homerun hire for Friedman:

@jonahkeri: This would be a phenomenal hire. RT @Ken_Rosenthal Sources: #Dodgers have talked to #Athletics AGM Farhan Zaidi about front-office position.

Ryan Theriot just added his valuable insight to this hire:

RT @rtheriot7 Wow Dodgers! Nice hire for the GM job. Hahahahahaha.......Good luck with that! #moneyballdoesntwork

RT @rtheriot7: Should be a Prerequisite for ALL sports GM jobs that they actually have PLAYED the game. Too much riding on their decisions!
