Week 4: Packers (1-2) @ Bears (2-1), Noon, FOX/780

I thought Marshall looked OK other than the one drop. Made a nice move to get open down the sideline for a would-be TD, but couldn't stay in bounds. Assuming no setback we don't know about, he might actually practice this week.

Deangelo Williams got hurt again today, I think Carolina is officially out of RBs. Gotta get after Newton next week.

@AdamHoge: Sounds like Martellus Bennett was supposed to run his route into the end zone on the play before the half.

@AdamHoge: Trestman said Marshall was supposed run an 18-yard hook on the 2nd INT. Ran a go instead.

Re: Bennett, I would hope so

About Marshall: that was a really really shitty time for that to happen. But it's Marshall, I can't be too mad

Just wish our team would [expletive] beat our rivals. That said, it's just one game and there are 12 left to play

Cutler would have been better off throwing into the end zone or out of bounds since Bennett obviously wasn't yet in the end zone when he threw.

Problem is being 1 back of the Lions and Packers and losing to the middling Bills at home.

Oh snap I remember that now that you mention it.

I almost forgot there was a [expletive] load of awesome in the first half before it all got wasted by the second half

You guys are funny. Bears are better than Carolina. They'll win. Marshall was fine today. Just unproductive like he's been several times vs Green Bay.

Several times?

Based on statistics at least, last year he was fine...he had 7 catches for 107 yards and a TD in one game and 6 catches for 74 yards and a TD in the other. He was bad his first year as a Bear, but still had one game with 54 yards and a TD.

As a Dolphin in 2010, he had 10 catches for 127 yards.

Waiting for the meatballs to blame Jay for this. You don't beat Aaron Rodgers with literally zero pass rush. I mean would it have killed Mel to blitz LB's on passing downs?

Yeah, was gonna say this. Only "bad" game I remember him having was the game they bracketed him all game after they dared GB to go man coverage in the media like they had done in past against our crappy WRs.

Sweet. Larger audience to watch devin Hester torch us

Edit: right as I say that he catches a TD pass

I hope so but I doubt it. Cam will torch this team.

Cam might night be able to get out of bed this week. He's beat to hell

That's fine because the Bears plan on letting him sit in the pocket unscathed all game.

In 2 losses, Bears have 923 years of offense.

In 2 wins, Bears have 483 yards of offense.

Last year the Bears were 4-4 when going over 400 yards of total offense.

Wasted offense under Trestman.

Bears are 2-0 when they are out gained and 0-2 when they get more yards. 2-0 on the road and 0-2 at home. Weird season so far.

Good thing they'll be on the road for a while.

Bears had one garbage time sack and no hits today.

Reading an article by Jeff Dickerson that the Bears game plan was to rush 4 all game because they thought they could get pressure since Rodgers was sacked 9 times in the first 3 games.

Ok whatever but why no adjustments as it became clear that Rodgers was not seeing any pressure. Halftime adjustments seemed minimal and the game got away from us quickly after that.

Pretty safe to say the Marc Trestman hire is looking pretty bad with what Mike McCoy and Bruce Arians are doing in their respective situations. We basically had our pick of those 3.

I'll continue to say I like Trestman slightly over Lovie but I don't think he's a very good head coach.

Chargers and Cardinals had young good defenses in place. I guess that still matters more than we thought?

Sweeeet this would mean Packers/Miami would be broadcast on FOX in the Chicago market.

If you trust football outsiders system, the 2012 bears was the best defense in the NFL. He doesnt get any excuse for the defense. Its clear that the team decided to use its resources to improve the offense, and that Trestman has zero value as head coach. Unless this team surprises us all and wins 9+ games this year than its clear that he was a bad hire. There is no purpose defending him.

Well, this is an intriguingly terrible line of thinking.
