Kane County going up against Clint Frazier and Brad Zimmer who are batting second and third for Lake County.

Jen-Ho Tseng gave up one in the top of the first but Mark Zagunis just hit an opposite field 2-run HR in the bottom of the first to give KC the lead.

Kane County leads it 4-3 in the 5th. Tseng struggled in his first 2 innings but got back on track in the next 3. He's probably done; racked up 8 Ks.

@bigjohnsonblog: Tseng allows two earned through 5, has a 4-3 lead. Probably done for the night, and the season, but what a run he's had. @KCCougars #cubs

@bigjohnsonblog: Tseng is indeed finished, Ben Wells is coming on to get some work, still a 4-3 game, top 6th. @KCCougars #cubs

Kane County wins 4-3 and takes a 1-0 lead in this best-of-5!

I'm not sure it can be stated enough how much better Kane County was than...basically every other minor league team in baseball.

I don't know if this bodes well for the Cubs' future, but they were the only Cubs farm team not loaded with top hitting prospects for most of the year (did briefly have Schwarber). They had the best pitching in the minors though, giving up much fewer runs than any other full season minor league team.
