Getting more and more realistic that Bryant and Russell are 1 and 2 on a lot of lists after the season.

Pretty much everybody still had Correa and Buxton ahead of Russell, so it remains to be seen whether Russell's strong post-trade play is enough to bump him ahead of a pair of guys who have been hurt for most of the second half.

Stinnett in his Boise debut: 2.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K, 3-0 GO-FO.

Russell again! Best prospect in baseball (besides maybe Bryant).

15-homer power, eh?

Russell has more career home runs (36) than Almora has walks (33).

Maybe they meant 15-homer/month power. Still probably selling him short.

I feel like every Iowa loss this year has been due to a former Cubs prospect having a big game against them. Ronny Cedeno 2-4 last night. Brett Jackson with a 3-run HR in his first game against the Cubs.

Ronny Cedeno is still trying to play baseball for a living?

And we handed Chris Volstad a W on Saturday. But at the end of the day, I don't think anybody really cares about the final score or who does what against the organizational fodder.

Next time you're on the [expletive], sift through some random AAA (or Japanese, Mexican, and Indie league)rosters. You might be surprised at who's still out there.

What do former big leaguers make in AAA if they are on a ML contract?

I'd have to assume it's all relative. Probably not much more, if at all, than any other AAA player, unless they coach as well. Most of them need the team more than the team needs them, be or because they're hoping for another crack at the majors, or they're simply not ready to hang it up yet.

Probably right around 100k. I'd play until the told me to stop. It beats work.

If you don't know, it's alright to say so.

In exchange, they get a maximum starting salary of $5,500—a sum far below minimum wage.

I'll assume that the guys earning this "starting salary" are 17-22 years old living their dream, many of whom just received a signing bonus of $100K-a few mil before being assigned a number.

There they make the league minimum of $1,100 a month,

Good luck supporting a family on that. Then again, if you're responsible for supporting a family on that, perhaps it's time to move on.

If McDonald’s and Wal-Mart can pay a minimum wage, then Major League Baseball can too.”

This is true. The trouble is, minor league baseball isn't Major League Baseball. Nobody cares about the W/L record of any given minor league team. The parent organization who pays them certainly doesn't gain any revenue based on the performance of the minor league affiliates, which usually consists of 3-10 guys that matter and 15-22 guys to fill the roster. If the roster filler don't like it, they can go back to school.
