Protecting kids from swearing is the worst reason for banning it. Swearing is awesome, why wouldn't you want kids exposed to it? Just try to teach them appropriate contexts, and laugh when they fail and swear in church.

No idea. I don't actually know what the web surfing policy at my company is, so I tend to exercise caution.

Probably not going to get you in trouble. And anything even remotely questionable is likely already blocked to begin with. I'd be stunned if going to news/sports/pop culture sites and the like would get you into trouble.
