Probably not going to get you in trouble. And anything even remotely questionable is likely already blocked to begin with. I'd be stunned if going to news/sports/pop culture sites and the like would get you into trouble.

 

Content-wise? Probably not. I'm kinda surprised more people don't get in trouble for wasting company time surfing the web, but as I said, it's not a big issue for me, as maybe 15% of my day is at a computer

I think it's been found many times over that a lot of people actually work better when they take "mini-breaks" like that, so unless someone is wasting huge chunks of time going to obviously non-work-related sites they're likely going to be OK.

as long as the company is cool with it, let it fly. I'm actually glad that I'm away from the computer most of the day....no temptation to keep checking in on all my regular sites
