I don't necessarily see the Castillo connection. Looks like Dbacks put in a waiver claim on him and Theo and Jed probably knocked each other over racing to the phone to work out a trade. He seemed like a pretty likely DFA so any kind of live body in return is a win.

Sounds like a case of end of the road, but let's see if we can get anything for him before flat out dumping him. Not a sign of anything. Cooper strikes me as another Jokisch/Rusin in that he could be good to have around if we need a spare arm for a double header or a bunch of injuries.

I'm not seeing much to suggest Cooper is anything more than a marginal middle relief prospect (not that Jackson was worth much more than that).

 

Best case scenario probably has him filling the Blake Parker role in a few years.

I definitely agree with you. It's ridiculous of David to suggest that this is a sure sign they're signing Castillo. And Kyle suggesting this means Baez will be called up? I mean, HELLO! He's already in the majors! Thank you for providing some level-headed analysis in this sea of fatuity.
