It's got to be Rizzo. Guys like him just don't come available that often, let alone get traded for less than a ransom. Though in terms of what we actually gave up vs. what we got, Feldman/Arrieta looks pretty absurd right now.

If Addison Russell really ends up becoming Barry Larkin, that could end up the answer too.

The last three years have mostly [expletive] sucked, but there have been some really damn good deals made.

Voted Arrieta for Feldman, mainly because -- while an excellent trade -- the whole Rizzo thing is also great because of the early extension we got him to sign. That was the most genius move with Rizzo. I'm not trying to take anything away from trading an injury-prone pitcher for one of the top 10-15 hitters in the majors, though.

I guess there are different ways to look at it, too. The Rizzo deal probably gives us the most excess value. But, we got a guy who currently has a 2.09 FIP for Scott freakin' Feldman.

Hendricks came with Villenauva (sp?) for Dempster.

Edwards/Grimm/Ramirez/Olt for Garza

Important as given the perceived value of what was given up to what could be gained given last year and half of performance, I would say Dempster Trade is looking like a strong contender. Rizzo/Cashner has a chance to even out if Cashner could just be healthy. Dempster for a solid 3B prospect likely to be basis for future deals and a #3 starter for 5 years? Not bad

That's right. Adds more high end potential to that one.

I'm personally going with Arrieta do to what we gave up for what we might have; however, on that same token, Vizcaino could end up trumping that. Lest we forget that Vizcaino's only 23, so there's plenty of time for him.

I went with the Addison Russell trade.

The Rizzo trade was great, but I feel like at the time, he and Cashner had similar values. Both had a lot of upside, but Cashner had an injury the season before and Rizzo really struggled during his cup of coffee. The Arrieta trade also looks great, but despite his stuff, it really couldn't have been too hard to acquire him with the numbers he had put up.

Rarely do you see top 5-10 overall prospects get traded for non-elite talents, and that was the situation with Russell and Shark.
