I voted slightly improved. I really like the depth that they have on the "bench" in Sutton, Ferguson, Willie Young, Bostic, Khaseem Greene, Hayden & Fuller. However, I don't think Jared Allen will make as big of an impact as some think and I really worry about Tillman and Briggs staying healthy. The safety issue really isn't much resolved either.

All in all they have to be better but I don't think it will be by more than 5 spots in the rankings or so.

I have no idea how the voting is going the way it does. Slightly? Really?

They were starting like 6 dudes off the street. They signed good to very good players at the important positions of weakness. They're getting other guys back from injury (which was a major reason last year's was as bad as it was). Then there's the draft, too. They're not going to be like 25th or something.

Lack of confidence in the guy calling the plays is the biggest reason for me to vote that way.

Everyone should have to read the PFF piece (posted on ESPN Insider) from like March before they get to vote on this.

It may have something to do with the vague wording.

They started Bowman, a former starter with a 6 pick season for Tillman. Bostic and Greene, one of which was a very high draft pick. Wootton started inside instead of out, but obviously not "off the street". Cohen got some starts off the street, but that's it. But Peppers was there, Anderson, 3/4 of the DBs, McClellin was a 1st round pick.

5 of the projected 11 started at least 15 games. Top draft picks started at 2 other spots.

Yup. It goes from "slightly" to "significantly," when all I want to vote for is "I think the defense will be just OK." Which is fine.

I get that these are sort of general terms with meanings that can be interpreted in many ways, but just OK is easily a significant improvement from dumpster fire.

Worse than last year?

Thanks for voting, Packers fans.

Julius Peppers and Major Wright were holding that defense together

I started to vote "slightly better", but then went with significantly. My reasons for voting that way were simply the absurd amount of bad last year.
