That's a whole half of a lineup that I don't hate. Not bad.

At this time next year, it may very well look like this ....

C Castillo

1B Rizzo

2B Russell

SS Castro

3B Javy

LF Soler

CF Alcantara

RF KB

Yeah, that is by far the best feeling I've felt all year reading down a Cubs lineup. Especially with the way the OF has been hitting lately.

Cubs destroy Reds 13-4.

wasn't he making the major league minimum as a member of the 40-man roster?

that might not even be true, but he'd be making ~1/90th of the minimum for 2 days work, which would be ~$5,000, no? Add a few hundred for meals and I'm pretty sure he's not eclipsing his previous earnings for 2 days.

Yeah I'm pretty sure you don't make the MLB minimum unless you're on the 25 man, but being on the 40 man might entitle you to a bit of a bump.

No, it's a split deal. AZPhil goes thru all that stuff and I'm not going to try and find it now. But I "think" that if you're on the 40 man and have never played in the majors, you're making 60k or so. But once you've made it to the bigs, you get a different split. Fairly substantial, to the point your AAA salary moves up to around 200k or so. At any rate, all these guys-Wada, Beeler, Hendricks, and Alcantara start making more just by coming up. Even if they're sent back down quickly.

And for some reason I think Alcantara signed for around 100k, maybe 125.

I can't find the link now, but it's something like $30k or $40k for your first year on the 40-man and it doubles in your second year or if you have at least one day of MLB service time.

That's a lot more than you make off the 40-man, where it's like $2500/month for AAA and only when the season is in session.

So next April the CUBS have to get through the first month or two with their scrubby lineup, then start replacing the fogies who came out of spring training with the youngsters - via trades and veteran bootings to AAA? Or maybe more like 2016 mostly? Gonna be weird but good.

Only half? Based on the way people are playing Sweeney (and to a lesser degree, Castillo), are the only ones that bug me somewhat.

2-5 are the only ones i'd like if i had actual expectations.
