Thibs leaning on his starters in the closing minutes of a preseason game IN Ohio with Lebron on the bench. Nice work Thibs.

Did you see the minutes played? They were not overplayed. This was the first time that Rose had played any significant 4th quarter minutes in the preseason, and he still only played 24 minutes. Four of the Cleveland starters played more minutes than any of the Bulls did.

I know Thibs is crazy, but this was not an issue last night.

Yeah. If anything, the Cavs were the team that treated this like a regular season game (and I believe they said as much going in).

According to realgm, irving said it was a statement game.

sometimes i forget that 2/3rds of the Big 3 has never played a playoff game before.

I love that they hired a trestman too. The people running the Cavs are so lucky but still screwing it up. Trading wiggins was pure stupidity.

I skeptical of anything Cowley reports.

The Sun Times really seems to be going for New York Post status

With how shitty the east is there's really no reason to be running out Pau/Noah every night for huge minutes, both should be given some regular rest/lower minute games and they still should be able to be a top 2 seed.

lol, yeah, I'm sure that'll really make them struggle this year.

That trade might look like one of the worst ever in 10 years. They gae up too much for a player that had limited their trading partners And among the teams that had a chance There was no other package remotely close to what Cleveland have up for love.

Let me preface this by saying I'm a huge Wiggins fan. I don't mind trade for the Cavs even if Wiggins becomes a current generation TMac. I think Kevin Love is a top 15 player, plays a position of need and gives the Cavs a player they can win with over the next 3 years.

I think it's a trade they had to make and one that makes them better. Also there is a chance that LeBron wanted them to trade for love as a condition for coming back to Cleveland.

How do you figure? They have an open championship window for the foreseeable future as a result of the trade. They have 3 legit scoring options in a crappy East.

Gift horses. Mouths.

Wiggins, who I like, probably has a <25% of being legit best player on a perennial contender. And by the time he is, Lebron's in the decline.

And Love has a great shot of being the legit best player on a perennial contender?

The point is that Cleveland's window is now while LeBron is still in his prime. If you overpay for Love but book a title or two, even if Wiggins turns out to be a superstar that's a deal you do every time.

Hypothetically would you do Wiggins and Bennet and 1 for Bosh back in 2010 if you were the Heat? Because thats what the Cavs are doing at the best case scenario. Bosh was a similiar player to love at the same age and was an integral part of the Heats 2 titles. Love is not going to get the volume in Cleveland that he did in Minnesota, obviously. Bosh went from a TRB% of 18% to 13% between 2009 and 2010. His usage rating went down from 29% to 23.5%. Loves usage was 29% last year and his TRB% was 19%. Love is coming from a team that gets the most possessions in the league to a Lebron team that will probably get the least possessions in the league. His numbers will go way down similiar to Bosh. Its going to be a completely different type of game for love. Considering he will be playing with two other ball dominant scorers, and two great rebounders Varajao and Lebron; Love will be doing a lot less of what makes him great.

I still think that Cleveland is a contender with Wiggins and not love. And that the championship window potentially extends beyond Lebrons prime.

As UMFan mentioned earlier, I fully believe Lebron knew about/required the Love trade before he came back to Cleveland. There is very little doubt in my mind. Maybe they blew other offers out of the water with Wiggins, but not including Wiggins doesn't get the deal done. Minnesota doesn't have to take cleveland's crap just because.

I like wiggins, but I also have my doubts about him ever becoming a superstar. And it doesn't matter if Love's numbers go down some. It is about having as many great players on a team as possible.
