Not getting the negativity over this Bulls offseason. Unless we landed Melo, getting Gasol and (finally) Mirotic coming over was probably the best scenario. None of the other big FA's were going to come here, and given the deal Melo signed, it's probably surprising he was even considering the Bulls.

If McDermott can provide an outside shot, I don't understand why this isn't a much better scoring team assuming healthy Rose.

But then again, I'm not very knowledgable about basketball and I don't really follow these guys all the time. I have more hope this year than I did last year. Obviously I'll be cringing every time Rose tries to make a cut to get by someone.

I think it could be good enough, but it's not that dissimiliar from the teams we've seen not win in recent years. Rose playing anywhere near 82 games would help immensely, but I would have liked to seen just a different look. I would have liked to see a better backup PG. And definitely needed 1 more shot creator. The Bulls could win with a Spurs like approach, as they now have enough passing, shooting, and versatility, but they don't have that Ginobili or Leonard who can create a shot along with the PG.

I don't know how feasible it would have been, but I would have given Hinrich's money to Augustin, since that's all it took. And I would have cleared room with Dunleavy, Randolph, and Butler if I had to and gone after a shooter, who could create. I'd had even taken Paul Pierce on the deal he got, and those moves would have created enough space for that.

Rose/DJ

Pierce/Snell

McDermott/Mirotic

Gasol/Gibson

Noah/Vet Min

Summer league caveat and all that but apparently Snell has looked good too.

Yup. If he can be a 3 and D guy for us, that would be really nice.

Yeah...I think this team is definitely the favorite in the East. At least until Love gets traded to the Cavs.

I can't say definitely. The Cavs, Indiana, and Washington are in the picture.

Matt Spiegel just pointed out on the radio that after one OT in the summer league, they go to a sudden death OT. Ha.

And don't count out Miami. If Love doesn't go to Cleveland, there are 5 teams that have a legit shot to make the finals.

Meh on Paul Pierce. Think I like JB better. Pierce would have been fine as a 3 next to Butler, but not too fond of having Pierce or McDermott guarding LeBron, George, Wade, etc.

Because they are not in the conversation for best team in the east.

I doubt Paul Pierce wanted to come to Chicago and play for Thibs, and I doubt Gar/Pax/Thibs wanted him.

I doubt either of those things are true, unless I'm missing some spat/beef between Thibs and Pierce that I had never heard of.

Pierce isn't known for his conditioning.

I know it's cool to think Wade and Bosh suck, but they don't. That roster just posted is definitely on a par with anyone else in the East currently.

The Heat are going to be good, bosh can do a lot more offensively if he didn't have to make himself an outside shooter to compliment the big 2. They will still be a great defensive team.

Meanwhile the Cavs unless they get mike miller and Ray Allen won't be able to space the floor for Lebron.

Someone on RealGM posted this, and I think it's probably about right.

Tier 1: Chicago, Cleveland, Indy

Tier 2: Miami, Toronto, Washington

Tier 3: Atlanta, Charlotte, Brooklyn, Detroit, New York

Tier 4: Boston, Orlando, Milwaukee, Philadelphia

Not really. When your bench is listed as "Granger, Napier, etc.", that's horrendous. Wade will play 50% of the time and, as much as I enjoyed him as a Bull, Deng just hasn't been a very good offensive player since he decided against wrist surgery. I think they're a tier below Cleveland, Chicago and Indy.
