RT @MDGonzales: Garza: "“It’s a lot of fun to win. You go through three years of constantly hoping, you kind of run out of hope."

RT @BruceMiles2112: Garza says he and #Brewers going out to win not just to hope to win as it was with #Cubs

I should be mad but I'm really not. He's right.

Meanwhile the White Sox, who lost more games than the Cubs last season, are probably going to at least contend for a playoff spot all season. Must be nice having a team that's not content with losing. Jose Abreu is a damn beast.

It'll be interesting to see where they are around the trade deadline. I think they thought this would be a lost season (still could be as their pitching sucks).

They're probably the best hitting team in baseball. They went out this offseason and made smart signings (Abreu) and good trades (Adam Eaton) and weren't content on sitting on their asses. And they're doing all this with nobody in their stands which means less money coming in. Ricketts on the other hand is sitting on his ass waiting for Wrigley Field renovation money to come in.

I'm not completely sold on the White Sox, but it is funny to see them, the Yankees and the Brewers having good starts.

Those teams just don't realize how dumb they are for acquiring talent. Sure they may wind up in he playoffs, but if they don't do it the right way does it even count?

not sure I've ever hated the cubs more right now

Ditto. Even the worst Dusty/Hendry years is not as bad as willfully fielding a terrible team.

Not a chance they will fade greatly. They play hard but seriously.

They traded their best offensive player in Rios, 3 starting pitchers, their closer, RH and Lh set up men. They have a stud in Sale, a solid starter in Quintana, a vet in Danks who is really a 4 or 5 at best.

They being carried offensively by Flowers, Rameriz, and Viceido who will not hit 350+ and have a 900 ops for long.

They are doing it with smoke and mirrors. Their pitching is bad, and their offense will return to their norm.

After reading this, I thought you thought the opposite of what you followed with.

Can someone explain why we weren't more in on Jose Abeau? I don't remember the circumstances behind it.

He's a first baseman?

Exactly. If the NL had the DH I'm sure there'd be some talk of going after him, but we got Rizzo. And I personally think Rizzo > Abreu.

The Sox are the best hitting "IF' Flowers, Viciedo, and Ramirez continue to hit in the high .300's, and Abreau, Dunn and Flowers continue at above a .900 ops which isn't going to happen.

Beyond that the only guy under achieving is DeAza, so it's not like other guys are going to pick up when these guys drop off. I am also not sold on Eaton posting a .360 ob% or Gillespie batting .300.

It's frustrating to watch them get off to a hot start knowing their not that good. To me the difference between the cubs and sox is Chris Sale.

Not sure there's a spot on the field that I'd trade players with them and they certainly don't have the young guys on the horizon that we do.

If the NL had the DH and the Cubs went after him, I'm sure all the media reports would say the Cubs were prepared to out spend all teams but end up getting out spent by the Sox by $20 million.

You can't blame us for missing out on Abreu, the contract he got was insane. Besides which er of the platoons is off can slide over to DH and are projected to put up just 1 less WAR (which I personally think they'll do better than) than Abreu.
