Not sure I really get the Crawford hate? Is he a top 5 goalie? To tie up those resources on a goalie is really tough and will probably cost them a guy like Sharp or Seabrook moving forward. I would say that the incremental value of Crawford over Niemi or Raanta is less than the gap between Sharp and someone like Morin or Nordstrom.

Sharp will turn 33 next season, he has probably two good years left.

i'd guess he probably has 2 great years left, then 2-3 more good ones

Chicago Blackhawks ‏@NHLBlackhawks 1m

On Versteeg: "The biggest thing for him is to have a good summer." Adds that he fits in well with the team as a whole. #Blackhawks

I disagree

he's a good bottom 6 guy for the price. in the regular season, at least.

If his knee was causing his issues, and frankly his biggest issue was being slower than Handzus, he could have to value to the team.

And he better since I doubt anyone is going to take that contract.

Oduya got hurt in game 7 and would've missed the Final, had they won, per Q.

"Might not have been able to play" according to the beat writers.

Yeah, I have a buddy that relayed that to me and he left that out.

So what are the most important things the Blackhawks need to address this offseason? I've seen mention of 2nd line center a page ago.

Sorry, bear with the hockey newby (well, I'm not really a newby; I was a really big fan in the '90s who lost interest when Belfour, Roenick and Chelios were traded and have been slow to jump back).

who are the young guys that should be able to break into the lineup next year?

Tivo *could* be a second-line center. That's what fans desperately want him to be. But he's not defensively responsible enough and you know Q is going to hate that, so who knows how he'll be used.

Morin should probably get more time. Clendening could conceivably take a third-line D spot.

That's about it for potential full-timers. They have a bunch of guys who could get some bottom-6 minutes or maybe Rundblad (high-ceiling, low-floor D prospect) could get a cup of coffee.

They always need a second-line center, and they're never going to get one.

They mostly just need to plug in the normal 4th line schmucks and let the prospects develop.

they're not going to use valuable resources on a center, but they've gotta get somebody who is capable enough defensively for Q to trust without being a black hole offensively like handzus. kane exploded with shaw and saad, but despite the quote on this page, i don't think Q will never trust shaw and kane on the same line long-term.

i think they'll move leddy and try to get a stopgap 2c (meaning a guy who should really be a 3c)

Bowman: "Jeremy Morin's knocking on the door as a player who can give a little bit of everything." #Blackhawks

I think Teuvo Teravainen was recently disappointing in some event but he probably has a chance to make it. He'll be 20 this fall.

according to hockeysfuture these are the top five prospects in the system.

Top 5 Prospects: 1. Teuvo Teravainen, C; 2. Adam Clendening, D; 3. Phillip Danault, C; 4. Mark McNeill, C; 5. Stephen Johns, D.

Thanks, guys. It doesn't sound like there's a ton of help on the top lines/pairings coming soon other than Tuevo.

It's weird because HockeysFuture ranked them No. 4 overall recently, but it's just a ton of depth guys who could be 2nd or 3rd liners elsewhere but may not make the team here.

I guess that's still useful for trades.

We've won two SC's, wake up already

Me? I was on board by the second one, but my hockey knowledge is still pretty limited (and hell, even if I watched a lot of hockey as a teenager, what I knew about the sport was probably crap).

And maybe I'm selling Tivo or whatever short. HF ranks him No. 13 overall and talks about him as a No. 2 center prospect. It's just hard for me to see Q letting him take over that role when defense is a liability. He's like Patrick Kane at C instead of wing, and there's no way our coaching staff puts up with that from a center.

put TT with hossa and sharp, then load up with saad-toews-kane on the first line.

Yeah it's around there. So who wants to pay that due $3M after the performance he just gave?
