Absolutely Almora! He just makes it look like he was born playing centerfield. I think of that Fogerty song by the same name and it makes me smile. The next few years are going to be awesome! :yahoo: Not that we're going to win immediately, but just to be a witness to the development of the core of this team over the next 3-4 years. If we get a little luck from the development gods and a high percentage of our crude diamonds start to sparkle? Look out world!

As of the #1 poll, I was dead set on picking Almora for #3. I couldn't pick Soler because he only has 85 ABs since mid June. But then I realized Almora barely has more ABs since both joined the organization, and none of his ABs have come at high A where the majority of Soler's came from. I'm still going to vote Almora over Soler (slightly), but I went with Edwards.....who for all the questions about his health, has never had health issues. And he gave up his 1st professional HR about 175 innings into his career. And he struck out like 13 people per 9 innings as a Cub. And his BA against was like .105.

3-4-5 really close for me, but went with CJ.

As an amends for treating Raisin like dirt in the other thread. I will no longer be participating in the poll. Just kidding, but I am sorry Raisin for being dicky. Please no more refund jokes, it's, it's too much.

Just curious, I voted for Soler(or so I thought) and saw that he had no votes, but Pierce Johnson(directly underneath him) had 4 votes. I went in and changed mine and it went through correctly, but wonder if it's possible there is a glitch somehow. One, because I thought it happened to me and Two) I kind of doubt Pierce would be getting that many votes, with Soler having zero, at the time I voted.

As for WHY I voted for Soler.....Almora's injury issues concern me quite a bit, while I can shrug off Soler's right now as just a freak event. That said, with the length of time Soler took off from playing organized baseball, I was super impressed with how good his plate discipline was. You hear about the plus bat speed and the bigtime power tool, the more he readjusts to game play, the more I expect these to come back. I'm very, very excited for his 2014 and think that he's going to take the single largest step forward this year out of all of our better known prospects.

As to your Soler, I think CJ will take the largest leap this year. And that's quite a thing since his year was already outstanding. But I think just by repeating it and adding some innings and looking a bit meatier will be enough to catapult in in the prospect rankings. The exciting this is, all 5 of our top guys have that sort of talent to make a huge leap over where they already are. It's hard to chose. I'm voting Almora for now but it's hard to chose between him Soler and CJ.

Candelario is my pick to take the biggest leap of any prospect this year

I feel like people don't like Almora (as much as they should) because they hear everyone gushing about all the leadership/makeup stuff all the time and don't realize how good an actual baseball player he is.

This was it for me with Almora. I thought he was outstanding without any of the leadership aspect, which has definitely overshadowed his playing ability. Almora/Soler/Edwards to me are 3a/b/c right now. I do enjoy reading everyone's case for each player. Helps make up for a boring offseason and no Bears playoff (though that would have ended last week anyway).

I'm going with Almora. My decision came down to Almora vs Edwards, not Soler. For a power prospect with a MLB-ready body, I can't help but want to see more game power from Soler. Admittedly, maybe the ridiculous showings by Baez and Bryant have clouded my judgement a bit in that department. Almora has shown great contact ability and by all accounts has been as-advertised on defense. I'm hoping him getting bigger and stronger will naturally lead to more HR's.

That's a good point that the Baez/Bryant power shows last year can make Soler look a bit less exciting. I'm really high on Edwards but maybe I should still consider Soler at 4. Its really hard to go wrong here though. I remember last year we really reached for Paniagua (was it 7?). But Edwards is much different. He has proven himself with performance at every level so far. A high K/9ip and only one dinger off him in his minor league career? I don't think I can penalize him for his slight build until it really appears to be an issue in performance. But, maybe I am reaching for him here and ignoring a solid Soler.

Guess I still have a day +/- to decide.

Actually, like the last poll, this board software should close it at exactly 48 hours from creation. This would be 7:04 PM PST tomorrow.

FYI, Jorge Soler signed up for Twitter today. @JorgeSoler68

Hope that isn't his real birth year.

JorgeSoler69 was already taken.

Really putting my non-photographic memory to the test.....But Isn't that the number he wore during spring training?

Yes, if my memory isn't failing me.

Wow, didn't expect Almora to be this big of a favorite over Soler.

Probably because Soler died mid season last year and hasn't been seen since.

In all seriousness, that's a big part of why I voted for Almora. He hasn't been the most durable guy thus far, but he at least played a decent amount and was good when he did. Soler was swinging bats at opposing players (not a huge factor in my mind btw) and broken after that. I'm still a huge fan and it's amazing that a guy as highly regarded as he is is only ranked 3rd or 4th in the system, but I need to see him healthy and productive before I get fully back on board.

To me Almora is the safer bet to be a consistent above average contributor at the major league level. Almora's floor, to me, is higher than Soler's. Their ceilings are both equally high, but Almora's ceiling has him doing more things better than Soler.

I get what you are saying but it's not like Almora has been the picture of health, FWIW, Almora only played in like 6 more games and had like 25 more PA than Soler last year. Regardless they are two excellent prospects whose values will be derived from different measures. Who is 3, 4 or 5 is really just semantics.

I went Soler because I remembered how high I was on Soler until he got hurt, and I can't put Almora ahead of him due to injury, because, well. Most likely going Almora/Edwards/Alcantara/Pierce/Vogelwalk with the next 5 spots unless somebody persuades me otherwise.

Those are my five, as well. Mine will go Edwards/Almora/Alcantara/Pierce/Vogelbomb, though.
