Today is the 5 year anniversary of the Cutler trade.

I was sitting in traffic on the Kennedy, listening to this

Started screaming and doing fist pumps in my car and then calling whoever i could think of

yours is way better than mine. i did end up at a bar later that day though.

talk about a buzzkill...when i told my brothers, they didn't know much about him and i insisted he was really good. then of course he has that craptastic game in GB and the underwhelming 09 overall.

I was in the middle of a massive work project and didn't find out until hours later when my girlfriend texted me the news. I just remember that being an extremely frustrating work project and the trade improving my mood greatly.

I was having lunch at an Irish pub in Philly and proceeded to ignore all of my friends so I could run back and forth from the table to the TV at the bar and be inappropriately excited.

I'm not sure why, but these recollections reminded me of this.

Back in ~2003 I had my students write about where they were when they heard about 9/11. One of them wrote that he heard about it 6 months later because he had been in prison and no one in there knew until they got out. His Parole officer was the one who broke the news.

Not sure why or how he's still available but the Bears just signed free agent center Brian de la Puente to a one-year deal.

Over the three seasons De La Puente started for the Saints, he received grades of +6.1 (2013), +23.0 (2012), and +6.1 (2011) from Pro Football Focus.[19]

De La Puente has never played OG in his career. He's actually a better C than Garza and only 28 (29 next month). He should start at OC, but won't. If there is an injury though, I'd imagine he'd come in with Garza going to guard.

The Bears went from James Brown, Mitchell Boggs, and Joe Long as backups to De La Puente and Britton in the last couple days. Good move.

Hopefully, Garza rides off into the sunset after this year and De La Puente becomes the C long term after this year.

He played a lot of guard in college, apparently.

Why not just release Garza? Otherwise what's the point of this? Just depth? Slauson and Long will be starting, no? The only guys on the O-Line I don't really trust are Garza and Mills.

Just doesn't make sense to me. DLP is a starter.
