Source: #Bears are now targeting #Raiders star defensive end Lamarr Houston after missing out on Michael Bennett. They are pushing hard

Better option than Johnson from the standpoint of it leaving us money for other things too.

Realistically, assuming we cut Peppers, we need 2 starting DE, a starting CB, a starting SS, and could use a DT upgrade and a FS upgrade as well. And this is figuring DJ being brought back, when it's still a need at LB, even if he is.

Personally, I don't think we can count on more than 2 starters coming thru the draft, although I can see rotational players also contributing on top of that.

Re-sign DJ and spend a 4-6 round pick on LB

Draft a DT by round 3

Spend on FA DE and spend 1-2 round pick here too

Re-sign Peanut and spend 4-6 round pick here

Sign SS and spend 1-3 round pick on FS

That's my guess, leaves 2 picks in the 4-6 rounds to spend between O-Line, WR, TE, and QB.

If he's really at his listed 300 lbs, I have to imagine he can play inside too.

Tampa desperately trying to trade Revis. If they can't, they'll cut him. So weird.

I'd rather have him than any DL free agent but I can't imagine the Bears can do anything to pick him up.

@TyYoungfelt: Still hearing two DE‘s on day 1 for Bears... showing a lot of interest in Willie Young, less in Tuck at current asking price...

I'd like to see:

Houston at DE. Whitner, Mitchell, Ward, whoever at SS. Walter Thurmond III at CB.

Trade down, get an extra 3rd. Draft DT, DE, CB in the first 3 rounds. Maybe throw in a backup RB or QB if one falls to the 3rd (Mettenberger, Garoppolo). Then S, LB, TE, and whichever position of RB/QB you don't pick with that extra 3rd.

I like Willie Young. Wonder how much he will cost. If in the 2-4Mil range, great pickup.

Pretty small - 255 lbs on the D-Line. 3rd down rush guy?

Love Houston. He could be a star here.

Is TY still pretending he can do Bears rumors?

He's got to do something while recovering from "burnt ass" after the TV deal stuff. But we better not say anything questioning him or else he'll mute right up. He's punishing us by not giving out Cubs stuff, you know....

#Bears offensive linemen doing some work in Florida along with Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall

@Ky1eLong

Got that work in with the boys this morning (minus 1) ... Love these guys!

If the offense improves as much as Jay typically has in the 2nd year of an offense...and the rookie OL gets better as 2nd year players tend to do....this offense will be amazing. To hell with the defense.

@TonyPauline: I'm told the way it looks as of noon, the Chicago Bears have little competition in their pursuit of defensive lineman LaMarr Houston

Houston: It looks like he had his best year as a pro last year, but I don't see anything special -- other than lowering the price tag from Peppers' contract.

He said a day or two ago on twitter that he was gonna stop giving out "insider info" because he's starting some mock draft provider or something?

Ya, some wiki type scouting service for amateurs I believe

Apparently Brad Biggs pointed out on the radio this morning that since 1999, the Bears have drafted two players that have gotten double digit sacks in a season. Roosevelt Colvin did twice, and Mark Anderson did it once during his rookie season, then never again.

That is horrible. Yeah I'm tired of the Bears drafting being so bad. I think this is a year that will make or break Emery, he's had some meh drafts so far.

I'm not saying there havent been some bad misses that make you scratch your head (McClellen, Hardin), but at the very least he's been able to draft 2 Pro Bowlers in 2 drafts (Jeffery, Long), one of them possibly developing into a top 5 player at his position.

6 sacks. But 41 QB hurries, 16 QB hits both top 10 in the league (more QB pressures than sack leader, Robert Mathis). He's never going to be a 10-sack guy, but I think he can give you 6-8, maybe more if he's willing to move inside on passing downs (not sure how much of that he's done in Oakland). But I think you can develop a guy on the opposite side of the DL that can really rake up some numbers. He had no help in Oakland.

He's also an excellent run defender.
