Maybe because this team has achieved the highest level of success before. I'd feel the same way if I were a Heat fan.

it kind of feels the opposite for me this year. after the ridiculous dream season last year, i'm finding it hard to watch them come back to reality.. even if it's still a very nice reality. it feels like they should have won champions of the century after what they did last year.

 

but yeah, even if they flame out this year, this group is going to get several more shots at this. hopefully saad and tt ultimately replace hossa/sharp as the complimentary stars and we're great for at least another 5 years.

He's really the only player on their team that I genuinely feel could cause the Hawks a lot of trouble.

So it looks like the trainwreck hawks are now 3 points behind Colorado and Colorado still has a game in hand. Guess we won't get home ice the entire playoffs unless we get to the finals

More than likely it will be Boston or Pittsburgh out of the East as the rest of that conference is garbage and both will finish with more points than the Hawks. However the Hawks can easily have home ice in the 2nd round if St Louis loses, which could happen(they are the Cubs of the NHL). Also in the Western Final LA could easily come out of that division and the Hawks would have home ice. I don't see the Hawks losing to Colorado in a 7 game series if Toews and Kane are healthy, especially considering Duchene(sp?) is out four weeks.

Makes sense at this point. Not likely to get home ice for that first round.

Hopefully people won't freak out when the Hawks (inevitably) lose some games leading into the playoffs.

 

I still trust this team at full strength more than any other team in the league.

I've become so complacent with these guys. Nothing short of a career ending injury to Toews or Kane would be a downer to me at this point, given what they have accomplished in comparison to the other teams.

Hawks sign Stephen Johns to 2 year contract. Seems to me he'll need more than that to adjust to the pro game.

Looks like Teuvo hasn't made a strong impression. Wasn't on any of the lines during the skatearound, and Q made it sound yesterday like he wasn't an every game player.

I think they're just trying not to let him play too many games...something about how rookie contracts work...

Or they don't want to have him go over that magic 9 games played mark if they know that Toews and Kane are both actually not going to play in the playoffs and they think they will lose. Probably not, but possible.

Great games by Saad, Hossa and Smith. Kruger was a beast. Even Rundblad wasn't too bad. Good game by everyone not named Bollig.

Colorado pretty much has to lose tonight in regulation or we can kiss the home ice goodbye. Probably can anyway.

Missed the game tonight but just saw the Bollig hit on Parise. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes to the pokey for a few games. Completely unnecessary hit and argument could be made the PPOC was the forearm to the back of the head.

 

I've liked a lot of what Bollig has done this year. But that was dumb.

Colorado comes back and ties the game with 1 minute left in regulation and then wins the shootout :banghead: . Pretty much kiss 2nd place goodbye. Might as well give the rest of the core some games off now. Hawks 12% to take over second according to sportsclub stats.

 

The Kings lost in regulation. In the event both the Hawks and them meet in the WCF the Hawks would have home ice. They are up 5 points on them. San Jose vs LA, first round, one of those will be done.
