Except that I would have given up more than that for Beachy alone.

Shame on me for not asking.

I also see Cain on the decline. He has been a work horse having over 30 starts in eight consecutive seasons with no season under 184 innings.

he was just the main piece in your Felix Hernandez trade (you dropped Eddie Butler), and had 10 starts since (2.27 ERA and 8 of which he went 7+ IP), so we can be forgiven for being able to make no sense of your valuations

unless you expect Jake Odorizzi to be a Cy Young Candidate, and/or Cespedes to completely hulk out i guess

Trading for Scherzer let me re-evaluate Cain. I also picked Eddie Butler back up before the season ended. I also have Wacha, Gio Gonzalez and Hector Santiago, so my starters are in good shape despite trading Cain.

Yes, but you dropped Butler relatively quickly after the trade, even though he was a top-50 prospect in the midseason. And you dumped Cain here for next to nothing even though he could be a 400-point keeper than puts up nearly 600 points in 2014 (and a key piece in the trade in which you gave away your best SP last year). So it's a little hard to figure out what is going on.

To address your edit - even if Cain is less valuable to you b/c you added a better SP, he's still quite valuable to other teams. You effectively got nothing for him. And then you threw in Beachy for free.

Apparently no one else wanted him at the time either as he sat on the open market for 2 weeks before I picked him back up.

Roady was the only one who asked. I got two picks for two players I would otherwise had gotten nothing for.

No you didn't. You gave up a pick as well. You got a third round prospect pick (which not all teams, maybe half the teams, use) and you moved up 2 rounds at the back of the MLB draft. You didn't get 2 picks.

I don't know why Butler sat as a FA for 2 weeks, but I also know we have some teams that don't pay that much attention, esp to prospects. If you want to trade Butler back to me now, I'll give you a 4th round prospect pick. I'll throw in a 5th!

I only really care b/c I took a lot of [expletive] for that Felix trade, which I thought made a lot of sense, but some people got pissed about. Especially after Cain was great in the 2nd half and Butler was solid in AA (and Olt sucked), it looked like it worked out well for you. But now...it doesn't look so good.

2 weeks until rosters have to be set. Looking mostly for draft picks, maybe an exempt player.

Latos and CJ Wilson both available. As are Pence, Rios, and Andrus if you want a cheap SS.

Raise your hand if you can take on points...

Liriano

Samardzija

Butler (sadly, limited to DH this year)

Napoli (sadly, limited to first base this year)

Kuroda

Papelbon

Are available as points dumps. Shark and Liriano should both score significantly more points than they cost to keep. I'd look for a decent return on those guys, but the other four are available for (and admittedly worth) peanuts.

Also, one of Donaldson or Machado is available as a swap of exempt players.
