Week 4 Bears (3-0) @ Lions (2-1) Noon CT Fox/780

Posted

Ima keep going until they lose.

Bears and Lions playing for the lead in the NFC North. With a win the Bears would be at least 2 games up on the rest of the division. With a loss they'd be tied with the Lions but behind in tiebreakers (yeah its early). I will be in attendance, so that's not good for our chances (bit of a losing streak recently), but this is a different era in Bears football, and of course its the Lions, so I like our chances.

Did you see how pissed he was when he won yesterday?

At what point do you begin to worry about resigning Cutler to an extension?

Last offseason.

I think Emery is more than willing to let this season play out and then pay Jay accordingly. If he wins the Super Bowl, he gets a Flacco deal. If he comes up short, he gets something less.

The Bears aren't at any risk of him bolting if they really want to keep him at all costs, correct? We can just franchise him?

My concern is him walking after the season.

The odds of that happening are very low. He's going to get a big offer. He's finally settling in with a competent offensive coach after first dealing with McDaniels then all the Bears rejects. The Bears have the franchise tag. It's just not a huge risk.

Yeah. He's not walking.

Even if all those things you mentioned weren't in play, he loves it here, has openly indicated in the past that he's not looking to break the bank on his next contract, and his wife has family ties here too (not that it's a huge factor, but just another thing on the pile).

Maybe he hasn't directly said it, but isn't it kinda assumed that he wants to stay here anyhow? Especially that he has Marshall with him, and a offensively competent head coach, seems like it would be the smart decision on his part.

I recall he said on waddle and silvy last that he would consider a hometown discount, but who knows how much truth there is to that.

Plus, what teams will be looking for a new QB? Clev, Jack, Oak, Az, maybe Minn?

Tennessee most likely destination given Cutler's love for Nashville, and Locker being ok but not great.

Offseason will basically be re-signing Cutler and drafting at least one DT, CB, and LB. I bet we wind up with two DT's and two CB's.

Why so you say LB? Granted Anderson and Williams are one year deals, but we're deeper than we've been in years, including with youth. Definitely agree on DL and CB though.

You can always use LB bodies though. Special teams takes up a few and given the body type that Emery covets, big fast freaks, LB is easy to take. Also, Briggs is 33 this season. I wouldn't be surprised if he's not on the Bears next season, and would be surprised if he is on the Bears in 2015. They may be deep today, but that depth is easily eroded.
