This Leafs-Habs game tonight should be pretty good.

It was amazing until a pointless fight in the 3rd sucked the life out of the game and the arena because they had to cart Parros off the ice.

Yeah I flipped away to watch the Hawks but read about it. I'm not an opponent of fighting, but this sort of thing isn't good.

I am not anti fighting but I am very against pointless fighting. Too many fights in the NHL are just thugs justifying their existence. I am all for a player who has other uses besides fighting confronting players who are crossing the line of clean play.

it took patrick roy one game as a head coach to have a meltdown on the bench. typical.

The guys on NHL Radio this morning were praising Roy and the fire he showed.

I'm with Boudreaux on this one. He basically mocked him, saying it's a long season, calm down buddy boy. I know he was pissed about the knee-on-knee that McKinnon took. If someone did that to Kaner, I'd want Q to be pissed too. But Roy getting a suspension about one game isn't going to do any good.

And I do think he should sit a game.

If anyone hasn't seen it, pretty incredible especially for a 19-year old.

Of course some are saying in a 7-2 game he was showing up the Rangers and the goalie. F that.

They should have definitely gone to the 4 corners or taken a knee. Oh wait, you can't do that in hockey.

Joe Thornton had a great quote about that kid's goal. It's hard to find it uncensored, though.

San Jose Sharks coach Todd McLellan sat rookie sensation Tomas Hertl after he scored his fourth goal against the Rangers on Tuesday night.

Let’s all pray that McLellan does the same thing if Joe Thornton ever gets to three.

The Sharks’ captain was on the outskirts of a media scrum in Vancouver on Thursday afternoon where, naturally, the conversation focused on his linemate’s big game. The questioning began to take a negative turn, prompting Thornton to step in and defend the kid.

What happened next is courtesy Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province:

Hearing a question to Marleau about Hertl and whether he was showboating, Thornton said:

“Shut up, have you ever played the game?”

When the press turned his way, he then added:

“I’d have my [mighty sword] out if I scored four goals. I’d have my [Mr. Happy] out, stroking it.”

As far as celebrations go, that’s one way to out-hotdog Theo Fleury’s rinklong slide.

Mighty sword & Mr. Happy are substituted for a word that also means a male rooster.

The Western Conference is 26-8 against the Eastern Conference so far this year.

They're still better. Ask anyone in the east.

I'll ask Penguin fans. They're going for back-to-back Stanley Cups, since they were crowned in April.

Some analyze NHL teams using "advanced" stats like Corsi #'s. I prefer the Bill Parcells approach: you are what the standings say you are.

Pretty bold stance to take, 5 games into the season. I've seen a lot of proclamations about exactly how good certain teams are this year and I don't really remember hearing that stuff this early before.
