Barney batting 2nd again. I've lost my faith in Sveum.

what an unlucky 420 foot homer to give up

Stop being so obtuse.

...well, that's a bit much to ask of you. Learn how to understand basic statistics.

...probably still too much. Keep quiet about things you don't understand?

...never mind, then.

I understand that Edwin Jackson has pitched worse than pretty much everyone else we've had in our rotation this year except maybe Villanueva. (Arrieta and Rusin sample size, obviously)

That's enough for me.

I realize that Edwin is a guy whose performance has historically not matched his xFIP (and that even taking that into account, he has been very unlucky this year). Just wanted to be a smart ass.

I'd say it was lucky since no one was on base. the distance of the homer is irrelevant.

He has great stuff, anyone can see that - and that's why he keeps getting contracts. But he's had long enough to show the ability to harness it and has shown little to no improvement. These are facts.

:-k

Wood being 7th on that list is enough for me. If the Cubs had a must win game tomorrow can you honestly tell me you'd rather have Jackson on the mound than Wood?

Edwin Jackson has the second lowest HR/9 rate of any Cubs starter this year...second after Rusin.

My fault, little to no improvement over the last four seasons. That's pretty substantial I'd say. Good thing the Cubs have time to wait.

When overwhelming evidence is against me, I try to avoid doubling down.

Or maybe, just maybe, Ramirez is pretty good at baseball and happens to see Jackson's pitches well. Could be that considering he just hit one about 5 feet from going out.

Ethier, not so much. Oh well.
