Vin Sculley is the only opposing team announcer that doesn't ruin Cubs road games on Extra Innings.

How much work must he do to study for each game? Seems like he can talk forever and just throw out one fact after another. Donnie Murphy wanted to play at Long Beach State but did not qualify academically.

Two thoughts:

1) Pretty amazing Sculley does enough research on a pretty unknown player like Murphy to get that info.

2) How dumb must Murphy be that he couldn't qualify academically at Long Beach State? Not exactly Stanford.

Very dumb. State schools (cal state ________) in their system are regional schools that accept almost everyone. I don't know if Vin has his story straight.

It might be sacreligious but I never really got all the love for Scully. His one man booth is very boring to me.

I don't understand why Cub pitchers who can throw 95mph are so afraid to pitch inside. An inside fastball to Grienke or Crawford probably ends the inning.

Then he does it to Puig and gets a weak ground ball back to the mound.

I'm with you.

Also, he (obviously incorrectly) said Soriano had been traded to the Nationals last year during a Cubs-Dodgers game. Caused quite a scramble in the game thread and on Twitter.

We're going to be lucky to score five runs this entire series.

I'll take the under

We couldn't score off Chris Capuano and Stephen Fife, why would we score off their studs?

I was at the game. Grienke was filthy but clearly gassed in the 8th.

Having Arrieta hit with 1 out in the 5th was dumb. He wasnt sharp all night and fighting it. Should have been pulled then, instead gives up 2 more and then leaves.

Pretty noisy and involved crowd for the most part. Hanley's HR didnt seem as well hit as it ended up but Puig's was a bomb. Have no idea how he got to that pitch (low and away) and neither did Bowden
