it's also pretty douchey to be like "ranking baez 7th and lindor 5th instead of the other way around is the worst travesty in history."

I barely questioned the ranking issues. I took issue with his "no fan could ever know their team's system better than I do" rhetoric.

Speaking of scouts... I read this gem from BP earlier when I was looking at Shin-Soo Choo's player card (the note is from 2007)

Choo did well in Cleveland as a platoon outfielder, but that`s the extent of his potential--he has too many weaknesses to be an every day player

Since this thread is still hot, does anyone know a website where you can determine a players slashline based upon his last X number of games? Or is everyone just exporting gamelogs to excel and doing it themselves?

BR's gamelogs let you do that

just click on a starting game and then an ending game

Awesome. Thanks. Was looking on there for awhile but never figured to just click them.

I can't think of BP without returning to their Brendan Harris=Albert pujols comp. the pinnacle of a just looking at stats projection

Lindor's BB and K rates are obscene for a 19-year old in AA; I get that part. But even given that and assuming Lindor's defense is superior, the disparity in power is just so great that I can't see how anyone could still rank Lindor ahead of Baez.

one could easily take the position that baez' performance to date in AA is not representative of his true ability. i say "easily" because he's never hit this well at any level, and the sample size is small enough that it could just be an insane hot streak at the right time.

people tend to go overboard both when someone is in the midst of a hot streak and when he's in a wretched slump.

I'm amazed Parks is still engaging these two. Been hilarious to watch.

it would be funny if sano/lindor turn into perennial all stars while baez is a bust, then parks joins nsbb just to troll kyle.

well not funny for us, but funny in a "not-a-cub-fan" kind of way.

You are so weird.

I don't understand, who cares that Baez is ranked too low? Given the choice, I'd rather he be ranked too low on the off chance that he might use that as motivation or something.

With all the huffing and puffing Parks was doing about having people that provide him with reports and analysis every day I'm surprised no one trolled to call him a middleman.

I've had so much fun with Cardinals fans on Twitter today, I really need to do this more often.

Feel free to read for entertainment purposes.

I never understood this either - the idea that anyone could rank them is ridiculous. But its something to talk about.

that is certainly a strange wish. personally, i hope Baez becomes the greatest player ever and Parks has to block Kyle and I forever. ButI'm a Cub fan, so go figure.

i much preferred kg to parks. parks tricked me into thinking he was funny for a while, but his jokes are all just weird references that never really deliver. kg was the entertaining a-hole without the annoying cooking and boardgame stuff of law.

did you forget how he completely tore up the midwest league last year? baez has a .289/.340/.562 line in his minor league career, while playing at advanced levels for his age. if you're going to call what he's done the last 2 years a "hot streak", then you might as well never bother to look at any minor league numbers.

I actually had a few pretty good music discussions with KG. And he was generally only an ass to stupid people, Parks is an ass to everyone.

I guess I didn't phrase it right, he can be an ass to anyone. I didn't mean to say he's always an ass. But I've seen him be snarky to people asking decent questions, maybe there was a history there somewhere, maybe not. But then again, there's a LOT of those guys (baseball scouting/writers) that that do similar things.

Of course, I'll also fully admit, outside of their being a history of someone being intentionally argumentative, I rarely see an appropriate time to be snarky just for the sake of doing it. To me, being snarky a lot of the time kind of shows that someone is an ass not funny. Doesn't mean I don't glean some good info or that they don't know what they're talking about, I just don't get why people feel the need to do it. (not just talking about Parks here, just people in general)
