Fascinating set of arms going. Pierce seems to need some time to adjust to A+, so it'll be interesting how he closes the year. Blackburn has been very nice, but IIRC, wasn't he considered a polished high school arm (yes, I know, so was Mark Pawelek).

Brian Smith still piques my interest quite a bit. He could probably be pushed faster as a pen arm, but there's enough potential there to feel it out. Been awful busy, so am curious if anyone knows how his breaking ball has looked this year? IIRC, that was the main issue for him, stuff-wise.

Our bus parked right in between a Qdoba and a Chipotle... Hardest decision I've ever had to make.

He's a brave man.

He's moving up quickly: pitching prospect Juan Carlos Paniagua is headed to Kane County, and he's starting tonight.

Awesome

Sarcasm.

Also, Yao-Lin Wang is the starter for Daytona tonight, not Pierce Johnson. Also, apparently Blackburn is piggybacking off Skulina tonight?

Paniagua gives up a single, then gets a strikeout, walk, infield fly, and strikeout to end the 1st.

Almora singles up the middle off of Chris Anderson (1st rounder this year).

Crap - that's what happens when the web sites don't list the starters and I have to guess.

Yea, MiLB.com can be brutal at times.

I assumed it had something to do with digestive issues with those two places, which I find odd since they are about as bland and harmless of that style of food you can get (not bad though), and should not be difficult to handle.

2 Vitters walks. And Daury Torrez still with those beautiful K rates.

And Aldbert Alzolay with 0/6 BB/K in 5 IP. In 52 IP so far, he has 10/42 BB/K and a 1.21 ERA in the VSL. Is he anyone worth following?

There is virtually no info on non-big bonus players in the DSL and VSL so we'll have to wait till this offseason for him to possibly go to Arizona instructs or to hopefully get some info from media members with connections to those DSL and VSL.

That said, he has fantastic stats and is 18 all season, so he's definitely someone to keep tabs on.

Well Boise swept the series:)

I was surprised to see Skulina start. Has Blackburn been pushed to today (Thursday?)

Baleguert was not playing, but I saw him in uniform heading to the bus after the game and he appeared healthy.

I wish I knew were Hanneman was.

Skulina hit 95. Orozzco (sp?) struck out the side in his one inning of work. Outside of Maples, Boise's pitching looked good. I think that the quality of the staff is much improved from last year. We have some prospects.

Penalver was the hero of the game. He smashed line drive off the Hillsboro's pitcher's leg which caromed into right field driving in 2 runs and later he hit a line drive single to left that advanced a runner to third. The throw to second got away (ruled an error) allowing Penalver to be safe at second and the runner at third to score. Penalver then stole third easily (He has the best speed on Boise's team this year, Dunston would be second)

I am not saying that Penalver is going to be a top ten Cub prospect at the end of this season. He should make many top 30 lists. What I am saying is that he is much better than his current stats indicate. Similar to Dunston last year. I remember that several people were willing to give up on him last year when he struggled at Boise. I posted not to give up on him. This year he is justifying my faith. I believe Penalver's offensive stats will greatly improve as the season progresses.

Speaking of Dunston...Yesterday I posted that he was hitting everything to left. So last night he decided to pull the ball. His one single was a solid line drive down the right field line. I wonder if he (or any other cub prospect) reads NSBB?
