I wonder if any later picks, whether Clifton, Masek, or Frazier, will outprice Hannemann? Or Skulina, for that matter?

Those slots are $736 and $477.

Josh McCauley

Position: RHP

Height: 6'4"

Weight: 220 lbs

College: Shepard University (WV)

High School: James Buchanan

Hometown: Mercersburg, PA

At Frederick Community College in 2010: Helped team to a 53-7 record and the Maryland JUCO Championship … the team also won the NJCAA Region XX and Northeast District championships to advance to the NJCAA Division II World Series … went 6-2 as a sophomore … finished career with 90.3 innings pitches, 39 earned runs and 82 strikeouts.

At Frederick Community College in 2009: Finished the season with a 2-2 record.

Personal: Son of Andrew and Candace McCauley … birthday is Sept. 24 … majoring in athletic coaching education.

Prior to Shepherd: A 2008 graduate of James Buchanan High School where he played baseball for Corey Dayley. Lettered in baseball, basketball, and golf. Gained Second Team All-State and ACE Award accolades. Attended Frederick Community College. A member of the 2010 Region XX champion team at FCC.

Personal: The son of Andrew and Candace McCauley. Majoring in athletic coaching.

Josh McCauley always had the talent.

At Frederick Community College, McCauley finally harnessed all that ability and turned it into a Division I baseball scholarship.

McCauley, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, recently accepted a full ride to play for the West Virginia Mountaineers in 2011.

"The lightbulb came on," Frederick baseball coach Rodney Bennett said. "He always had the size -- that was something we saw -- but he always had trouble locating pitches. He's always been good enough to pitch beyond us, but how good he did was going to determine what level he played at."

At James Buchanan High School, McCauley struck out 116 batters in 83.2 career innings, but he also walked 68.

In his freshman season with the Cougars, again struggled with his command. He walked 28 in 32.1 innings.

I think Hannemann will sign under slot. Masek and Frazier probably slightly over their slot (by about $50-$100k?).

Clifton sounds like he'll take quite a bit to buy him out of his "strong" commitment, hope it's worth it. If I had to guess, I'd say at least $500.

Tyler Ihrig

Position: LHP

Height: 6'0"

Weight: 185 lbs

School: Marin CC (CA)

High School: Monroe

Hometown: Monroe, Washington

Only thing I could find except box scores:

College of Marin pitcher, Tyler Ihrig, has earned the 2012 Pitcher of the Year Award for the Collegiate Warriors team. In his 2nd year as a Warrior, the late-inning specialist excelled out of the bullpen, recording a 1.77 ERA through 40.2 innings pitched. Tyler is an outstanding competitor, always taking the ball for the Warriors in high-pressure situations – he was 3rd on the team in innings pitched and lead the team in saves.

Hailing from Washington State, the lefty used his nasty fastball-curveball combination to prove his worth as a leader of the Warriors bullpen and pitching staff. We wish him all the best in his future achievements and hope to have him back on the team for the 2013 season.

24th Round Selection

http://images.onset.freedom.com/ocvarsity/medium/l1z6au-l1z6625adamo.jpg

Tyler Alamo

Position: C

Height: 6'4"

Weight: 200 lbs

High School: Cypress (CA)

B/T: R/R

Catcher Tyler Alamo out of Cypress (Cypress, Calif.) has a strong frame at 6-4, 205. At the plate he showed some power and a good approach. If there is one area he needs to work on it is his receiving skills.

Tyler Alamo is a 2013 C/IF with a 6-3 195 lb. frame from Buena Park, CA who attends Cypress HS. Outstanding athletic build, big, strong and loose. Low flexible set catching, simple compact actions for his size, low effort release, doesn't rush it, strong arm, throws easy and accurate, 1.87 best pop. Right handed hitter, spread open stance, long and strong swing, very loose and extended out front, present bat speed with strength at contact, 7.05 runner and moves for a catcher, had two game triples, gets the barrel out and drives the ball, swing can be shortened to the ball but works for him now against good stuff. Verbal commitment to Cal State Fullerton.

Alamo is a physical high school catcher who has room on his 6-foot-4, 200-pound frame to get even stronger. He already generates good bat speed and has the potential to develop plus power. To unlock his power potential, however, Alamo will have to improve his approach and pitch-recognition skills. Defensively, Alamo has good tools, but is still is a work in progress as he learns to use his big body behind the plate. He has an above-average arm and good hands. Alamo is committed to Cal State Fullerton

bryan, thanks for all the research and info. Really awesome to pop on here and have a bunch of info right away.

Alamo sounds interesting. #348 on the BA list. Given the dreadful situation at catcher in the Cub system, any top-500 catcher is obviously interesting.

My assumption is that Clifton pretty much emptied the overslot fund, so I doubt there's anything left, and I expect a pick like this is a "just in case" pick. (Just in case he changes his mind and really does want to go pro; just in case somebody who said they'd sign for XYZ changes their mind; just in case somebody fails their physical....) Still, it would be fun if I was wrong, and if they really still do have some superslot money left.

Alamo (BA's #348):

Alamo's durable 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame has plenty of strength, but scouts use words like "rigid" and "stiff" to describe him behind the plate and in the batter's box. His receiving skills have a long way to go to become passable. He has slightly above-average arm strength, but his footwork affects his accuracy, and he takes too long to unload the ball. He is an upright hitter whose grooved swing features an arm bar. He swings and misses too often, and scouts consider him a guess hitter. He does flash promising raw power. A team could take him around the back of the top 10 rounds and try to sign him away from Cal State Fullerton.

Same HS as Josh Vitters.

Marcus Doi (BA #388):

Doi broke out at last summer's Area Code Games, ripping hard line drives all over Long Beach State's Blair Field. He has lost a little steam this spring, as scouts are starting to question his overall profile. He has a tightly wound build at 6 feet and 180 pounds and bats and throws righthanded. He's just a fringe-average runner and he'll have to play left field because of his below-average arm strength. So he's really going to have to mash, and he profiles more as a fringy hitter with average power. Scouts now expect Doi to honor his commitment to Hawaii.

So the one positive thing they said, aside from that he's got a solid frame, is that he flashes promising raw power? Everything else sounded bad to really bad...

16th rounder Cael Brockmeyer was BA's 393rd best prospect.

Brockmeyer was the centerpiece of Bakersfield's lineup as a junior this spring, hitting .333/.419/.484 with four homers and 51 RBIs. At 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, he has plenty of strength and leverage in his swing, giving him average raw power. Despite the length in his swing and a high leg kick that leads to timing issues, he has a feel for the barrel and a decent approach, giving him a chance to be a fringe-average hitter. He's an adequate receiver but lacks mobility behind the plate. He has a loose arm but his arm stroke is not compact. Whoever drafts him will give him a shot behind the plate, but he'll probably wind up at first base.
