i don't get it, he looks the part right up until he bounces out to third or waves at a changeup a foot off the plate.

Starlin's problem has been getting around on the fastball. I'm pretty convinced he's trying too hard to be selective and it's messed up his timing bad.

He's getting Corey Patterson'ed up there, trying to much to make him into something he isn't and he's gone from a pretty useful player but not great to having Danny Murphy or whatever the [expletive] his name is outperforming him.

"He's so bad that the dude hitting .333/.396/.854 with a .519 wOBA is outperforming him."

“You’re not supposed to think [at the plate]”

“Sometimes you have a tough season and you want to please everybody. But when you listen to everybody, it’s not right. You have to listen to the things that can help you, not everything.”

“I like to be aggressive, swinging the bat [early in the count]”

“Swing at strikes. See good pitches and be aggressive and hit them. See the ball and hit it. When you come to the plate, you don’t have any idea because you listen to too many things. That’s what I’ve been doing. There’s six weeks left. I just want to be aggressive and be me.” Said Castro.

I'm ok with this. Please do this and go back to the 3-4 win guy you can be by hitting the way you did before and improving in the field.

It really is sounding more and more that Castro and the FO are at odds.

Well, I do recall either Theo or Hoyer recently saying that maybe just going back and doing his thing would be best for him.

I don't take it that way. I doubt the FO would be offended if he goes back to being the player he was instead of the steaming pile he's been this year. It's time to abandon whatever they tried to do with him.

Right, but that's clearly not what they want. Plus there's other...stuff.

Maybe the FO ought to handle FO stuff and let the players, coaches, and manager handle handle the "on the field" stuff.

No, but seriously, you mean an organizational philosophy regarding the way the game is to be played, coached, and taught isn't FO stuff?

You don't actually think Theo and Jed are out on the field giving Starlin hitting tips themselves, do you?

and then the manager and coaches run a 22 year old pitching phenom into the ground to "go for it" that season, because they don't have to worry about the long-term future of the organization

Well their "organizational philosophy" includes hiring coaches that look like they've been detrimental to Castro, Rizzo, and Barney.

Yeah, well Barney just kinda sucks and never really has been that good outside of the defense.

Please show your work with Rizzo. Compare his minor league performance with the Cubs vs his prior minor league performance. Compare his MLB performance with the Cubs to his prior minor league performance with SD.

Thanks.

Backtobanks, just as an FYI, you've now criticized the FO for interfering with the coaches' work, and then criticized the FO for hiring bad coaches in consecutive posts.

It's very possible that they hired bad coaches and then told them what they should be teaching.

Worst FO in the game. Hire bad coaches and then deliberately make them worse. Only the Cobs!

I think it's clear what's going on here. Theo and Jed are going to help get Javy and Bryant to the bigs, only to then hire coaches to ruin them. Afterwards they'll rip their suits off to reveal Cardinal tshirts. Then, as we are all crying, they'll lick the tears off of our faces. They are the ultimate heels.
