Yeah, we were all pissed with Hossa being stupid for the tripping, not that it was called.

Howard played that penalty shot horribly. He wasn't even close to stopping it, and looks like he didn't have a clue where he was.

If Howard stops it (and it's not like Kane was his opponent, let's be honest...) not one Wings fan is saying anything about the call. But since Howard stunk up the joint against a bench player, suddenly it becomes the refs fault for a terrible call, even though by the rules it's the correct call? Just because of context, or something?

Not making sense, sorry NUN.

I think if you read my entire post you would notice that I ended by saying that Howard played the PS terribly...but oh well. I also did not say the Wings lost because of PS. I just explained why I thought it was a bad call.

it's a bad call because cocacola chocobo obviously thought he could get away with slashing someone, who was about to [expletive] score, on the hands and get away with it for some reason. he was an idiot for thinking it and any fan of any team is an idiot for being pissed off.

all of the dumb explanations by wings fans in the world aren't going to make sense to us. the call was correct, and, despite your pitiful perspective, THERE WAS NO PRECEDENT to that penalty in the entire series. it wasn't like it had happened before and not been called. HE HIT THE GUY IN THE HANDS AND STOPPED HIM FROM HAVING A GREAT CHANCE AT SCORING. it wasn't off the puck interference or a high stick that the refs could have missed. you can't assume that that call, which everyone can see while it's happening, isn't going to be made.

I'm just expecting you to be completely pissed right now, at the Wings. Without equivocation. Because if the Hawks had blown a 3-1 lead to go to a game 7 in Detroit, I'd be really angry at them. I wouldn't even be talking about a ref call, certainly not that one.

But I do get that you tried to balance your opinion, I give you credit for that.

it pisses me off that a wings player tried to cheat us out of a scoring chance and get away with it. it pisses me off more that wings fans think that it's ok to cheat. for shame.

Is there a good reason as to why today's was a penalty shot but the one late in Game 4 (I think) was only a power play rather than a penalty shot? Both prevented a clean shot on goal where the player with the puck was in on goal behind the defense.

I believe the one you are referring to there was no clear breakaway/path to the goalie. While in this case it was very clear.

(it's at 9:25 of the video in case it doesn't link correctly). He's in on goal with two Red Wings a couple feet behind him. One of them prevents a shot and gets called for a hooking penalty.

Here's the one from last night. The only difference I see is there were two Wings there in Game 4 and only one in Game 6. Admittedly, I don't watch much hockey (pretty much only the playoffs), so I might be missing something, which is why I'm asking.

Oh, I was very upset about how they started the 3rd. No doubt. Their play in the 3rd period has been terrible all season long and has only gotten worse in the playoffs. I am not happy with how Howard played the PS. It was not a great move. He played it terrible, without a doubt. The Hawks are way to good, Wings cannot afford to make some lapses they made last night. I am also pissed the Wings did not get a sniper at the deadline. I am not happy they played with no effort in game 5.

So before I get to the penalty shot, let me just say that I assume that most Wings fans if they were honest are more upset about losing a game that The Wings were the better team.

i think wings fans are being perfectly honest when they blame the loss on the vast nhl conspiracy, phantom offside, or bogus penalty shots. i think if wings fans thought their team was better than the blackhawks, they would actually make a coherent case for that, rather than resorting to all of the nonsense we see around the internets

haha, wasn't there a rumor that buff rented a convertible and drove around vancouver at some point before that game with his hawks jersey on and the stereo blasting something obnoxious? i don't even care if that's true

Do any Madison folks want to get together for the game tomorrow night?

I would but I'm not sure I will be in town tomorrow night.

god, i want this win so badly. like, if you told me they'd win this game but lose in one of the next 2 rounds, i might take that. a 3-1 comeback against the wings would be too good, and blowing it would be too heartbreaking.

Game of Thrones conflict!! Game one would be on Friday if Detroit won.

The Hawks have been much better in recent years at forcing game 7s than they have been at playing them. No one should be looking ahead.

But they've only played one game 7. 2-1 at "forcing game 7's" and 0-1 at winning them.

I included what the revision was if Detroit won, so I think that covers up any bad mojo by acknowledging that possibility.

Wait, how have they forced 2 game 7's but have an 0-1 record in them? Or am I missing something?

Tonight's game hasn't been played yet.

2-1 forcing game 7s includes Monday's game. 0-1 in game 7s does not included tonight's game. They've only played one game 7 in recent years, and lost.
