Truth is though the Wings didn't dominate this game as they did the last.

no but we're running out of time for moral victories

I know but I'm not disheartened by this loss.

How can you not be? Hawks look soft as [expletive]

Three posts. Ref rape.

And Pigpen isn't playing very soft.

No discredit to Datsyuk but that was a soft goal and Howard may have been more lucky than good. Edited by gflore34

We can't clear the zone, we have a shitty ass PP, we are losing too many face offs and were being manhandled physically. Did I miss anything?

Oh Toews was 5-13 on the dot...

Not in the third, Lady Luck was dealing for Detroit.

The way NBC is calling it, the Hawks shouldn't even bother showing up Thursday, sounding like Babcock is the only coach capable of making adjustments.

If the Hawks keep up that third period effort the Wings will cave in, sooner or later those posts won't be there for Howard.

Except that 'effort' also gave up several quality scoring chances for Detroit including a goal. The Hawks just need to look in the mirror and remember why they are the best team in the league this year and do the things that made them the best team. Skate hard and fast, great back check, win face-offs, force teams to the corners in their zone, win battles in the corners, control the puck. They will win if they get back to doing those things. What they do not need to do is whine, try to play overly physical, get themselves out of good position to make hits and did I mention whine?

yawn. frustrating, but the wings caught all the breaks and the hawks caught almost none. the wings were getting dominated when they scored those two goals. the blackhawks are still the better, more talented team. and still the most likely to win this series

Wonder if Q is sick of losing to Detroit in the playoffs. 7-22 lifetime now with an 0-5 series record with this series pending.

To put that in perspective, he's 70-48 against the rest of the league.

Also, I like Stalberg's attitude after the game:

"We're not satisfied with the way we played, but I think it was a good tempo, a good hockey game (and) it could have gone either way," Stalberg said. "I don't think we're too worried that we can't beat these guys — we've done that all year. We still have the feeling in this locker room that we're going to win the series."

Of course I do want them playing with urgency in Game 4, but I like that they remain confident.

I'd like to be able to say that we've seen the last of Handzus in the starting lineup. There are plenty of better options. Even Mayers would be worth a look over Handzus.

Shaw has got to learn to play with more discipline. The bitter fact is that they probably need him out there centering that 3rd line, especially if/when they bench Handzus.

So, if you were Q, would you consider these lines:

Sharp-Toews-Kane- Detroit can't stop all three and the Hawks need to open up space for Toews

Saad-Bolland-Hossa- The de facto checking line but with lots of scoring punch, speed and talent

Bickell-Shaw-Stalberg- this line has to play better against it's opposite number

Morin/Smith-Kruger-Frolik- Kruger and Frolik deserve a finisher to make their line an actual threat to score instead of just being a nuisance

Other options for that 4th line: Mayers or Pirri to win faceoffs

Carcillo, Bollig, Mayers and Smith in white jerseys today.

The lines this morning were

Sharp-Toews-Hossa

Saad-Bolland-Kane

Bickell-Shaw-Stalberg

Handzus-Kruger-Frolik
