LOL Vogel kept Hibbert out again?!

LeBron was worried about driving on him. He kept getting it in the paint and passing. The two times he's out, two easy baskets. Makes no sense.

Vogels boner aside, I was about to anoint George the new Pippen but that was a hideously bad overplay.Pacers gotta be crushed.

I know, right. Play off him there and force him to take a jumper or at least a floater from outside the lane. Also the Hibbert thing is only explained by Stern calling in a implementing a No Hibbert Rule the last 1 minute of games.

Ridiculous.

Vogel made a bad decision, but that doesn't mean he's a bad coach.

Making decisions is all coaches do

That's not true, man-management is extremely important and hard to qualify as "making decisions."

Regardless, coaches make numerous decisions and even the best make poor ones sometimes. Not having Hibbert in was inexplicable* and wrong, but Vogel is still a good coach.

*Edit: I don't think "inexplicable" is the right word. It is explicable, as in there is an explanation; it's just that the explanation fails to convince.

I thought it was the right move. On plays like that, there's not gonna be a Heat player near the paint except for the guy with the ball driving to the basket if possible. Hibbert can't defend anyone outside of paint (he would've been guarding Bosh on that play who was about 15 ft away from the basket). Not to mention that it's an out of bounds play so there are screens/picks so you most likely would have to switch defenders so you don't leave a guy open and you don't want to leave Hibbert on LeBron or Ray Allen. Hibbert had 5 fouls and say he was able to try to block LeBron on that layup if LeBron kept the ball instead of passing it to a WIDE OPEN Bosh, refs would've called a foul if there was any contact (esp. since they called a foul on Wade on the play before that refs usually don't call on).

Also it was like 1.7 sec from the time LeBron got the ball and it left his hand. Hibbert would've had to been right next to the paint to even contest that shot in 1.7 secs. Even if he was 2 steps from the paint, he wouldn't have got there in time IMO. George just over defended on that play and that's all LeBron needed. It was an awesome game and it should be a great series. It should go 6 or 7 games.

Don't you want Bosh shooting an 18 footer on that possession? How would LBJ have had time to drive the paint and kick out to Bosh? It made more sense than the previous possession he benched him on(resulting in a wide open James layup) since that was a full 24 seconds, but it was still dumb.

What was the logic in benching the best defender on the floor?

He can't run with a shooter and if he stays on the block, Bosh has a wide open look.

Still better than overplaying LeBron and watching him lay it up on you, but that's the logic.

Exactly. And Miami was not running a play to have LeBron drive. In fact, it's not sure if the ball was always intended to go to LeBron at all (they had a Allen/Bosh screen that would have spelled trouble for Hibbert if he had been in the game). It's just too bad that George overplayed so badly which gave LeBron that huge lane.

The play before was the much more questionable one. To take Hibbert out and then to just let Miami switch Hill onto LeBron so easily was a bad set of moves.

That was one of the worst switches of all time, especially knowing Hibbert wasn't in the lane. Norris [expletive] Cole set the screen, you're telling me George can't get through a Cole screen and he needs to switch with Hill on that? That's just laziness

Why is LeBron allowed to tomahawk chop people and not get called for fouls, then be a complete douche on a tie up and not get Td up? He's getting way more BS calls than Jordan ever did. Not that Jordan didn't get a ton of calls, but they weren't nearly as pathetically obvious and wrong like the ones LeBron gets now.
