Either you've told that story before or McRae's wife went around doing this to all sorts of little kids, because I know I've heard that before.

ETA: Kind of hoping it's the latter

I figured I must have at some point. Worth telling it every couple of years to remind myself how much they suck. It also appears I've gotten the minor details of my own story mixed up over the years.

Fact is, no matter the small details, it happened and they suck.

I honestly don't remember if it was charity or not. Today, I wanted it to not be charity. Several years ago? I guess it was a charity auction.

Clearly my hate has grown stronger, and my quest to turn them into monsters moves forward.

Damn, it's coming up so soon. The excitement has tapered off so much since Maddon and Lester.

Oh I don't think so...not for me anyway. Just not much going on.

I'll get excited again once ST starts, but now it's just kind of like waiting around. Shouldn't see any more significant moves right?

Well, they're in on Zobrist, but so are a few other teams.

Castillo is absolutely being traded so we'll see what that ends up being (if it's a smaller part of a larger thing or just a meh move).

Things I still anticipate:

to be subtracted:

- trading Jaxon

- trading Castillo

- trading Wood

- trading one of Straily/Turner/Doubront

to be added:

- trading for Zobrist

- or - Adding an OF (Rasmus / trade return for SP's)

- Adding a rehab guy

- Maybe adding a significant SP

Zobrist makes so much sense for this team it's crazy. If we don't make that deal, I'd anticipate we still add an OF option that can play CF.

With a post-trades rotation of Lester, Arrieta, Hammel, Hendricks, cast-of-thousands, I could see the Cubs still adding a significant starter this offeason. I just don't see where he'd come from at this point.

yeah, zobrist is the perfect insurance against injury or a prospect megabust (and his primary position happens to be that of the most likely player to megabust). and if we were fortunate enough for everyone to work out, they'd still be able to get him plenty of PAs just giving anybody a day off for rest or certain matchups.

I think Wood still makes a lot of sense on this roster after getting rid of Wright. Lefties have a .276 wOBA against Wood in his career, compared to .330 wOBA against Doubront. I think Felix gets DFA'd along with Jaxon before the season. I'd like to see Wada in the 5th spot with Wood and Turner in the bullpen.

Straily to AAA. Turner and Doubront either make the team or get dumped on waivers - no trade value. Wood has more value to us in the bullpen than in trade, unless we're kicking in half his salary.

Jaxon, Castillo...whatever.

That's too far away. Gotta look forward to Spring Training first.

I really don't get you. For most of our lifetime that is the best time to be a Cubs fan. There is something so optimistic about the spring training, the coming of better weather, seeing the green of the diamond, seeing the young kids who you pin hope for the future on, just everything about it is great.

I mean you love college football and all it is is a six month exhibition season followed by a beauty contest.
