The #Padres have dealt Minor League INF Jose Dore to #Cubs for a PTBNL or cash. An 8th round pick in '10, a .222 hitter in 3 seasons.

 

3 seasons is a bit misleading. has only really played one year. 2010 he played 4 games after signing, 2012 he missed all but 9 games.

While the natural reflex is to view such a move as a non entity, there's probably a reason that we wanted him. Chances are that he never see's AAA, but there must be something that our guys saw in him to peak their interest. That and he's from Jed's old farm.

I'm not saying that he was by any means a must have, but being a product of Jed Hoyers old system and the fact that he's a 21 year old low level guy as opposed to a AAAA scrap heaper that they're picking up as a big league band-aid or depth makes the move somewhat intriguing to me.
