How often does a reliever get picked in the first round?

I think the Reds plan on converting him to SP a la Cingrani and Cashner.

That said, it's happening less often these days as teams become smarter. There'll be one more this year - Louisville RP Nick Burdi (from Downers Grove), probably to Detroit.

So...

I'm getting to the point in life where guys my daughter flirted with (and then went to college!) are getting drafted.

This year sucks.

Grant Holmes to the Dodgers. Nice pick, good system for him.

I stick by my bad hair comment.

Hart says Holmes has the best curveball of any prep in the draft.

Has he not watched Touki? Or Aiken?

Touki's curve is probably the single best pitch in the draft ahead of Rodon's sliders. To say Holmes has a better one is absurd.

Cole Tucker a reach per most Internet draft boards but the Pirates do have multiple picks.

Like Tucker, I can't imagine the Cubs picking Chapman. Another high ceiling arm falls to 45.

Also Chapman has poor plate discipline. Weird Beane pick.

ETA: Never mind, apparently Chapman's discipline improved big time this season.

Cardinals take Luke Weaver.

That's just about the most Cardinals pick possible this year.

My reaction as well. Him or Bladino.

Sean Reid-Foley still available. Spencer Adams too. Some nice HS arms expected to go in the top 25.

Probably not an option for us by like Gatewood, Davidson and especially Wall for HS bats at that pick. Well probably go with an arm though, Bukauskas could also remain on the board.

Love Blandino's game. Good pick. Ortiz is great value if healthy.

Will this be like the early years of the NBA Draft on TV where they would chain a guy to the chair in the green room until he was picked?

There's always one mid-late first round bat I fall in love with based on just reading scouting reports. Wall is that guy for me.

There goes Kopech, who was definitely linked to the Cubs.

Let's see if the Cardinals go Flaherty here.
