Seems like an ideal fit for the Cubs' needs. They can afford to wait for consistency.

Can't imagine that another team with less holes couldn't beat any Cubs offer.

For the right price maybe, but wouldn't part with anything significant. He has a good k%, bb% is slightly high. His velocity has declined pretty steadily since 09', however, average FB went from 94, 93.6, 92.6, 91.8 the last 4 years and his slider has seen a similar decline as it has gone from 87.7 in 09' to 84.2 this past year. That's still okay velocity but a pretty clear trend and red flag as he will probably lose effectiveness as he ages/continues to lose velo as he doesn't have great control.

Always had a really nice K/9 and Gives up fewer than 1 hit per inning. On the negative side he has lost 2 MPH off his fastball in the last couple years and his pitch value on his fastball has been absolutely terrible. I don't know the specifics about why the guy's 92MPH fastball is so bad, but if they can fix that he'd be interesting.

I like Norris a lot. I haven't really followed that closely this year to know if he was hurt, but I do know he took some off his fastball to try and get better command a few years ago. That said, the consistent decline in velocity is alarming, and there were some injury issues in the past (want to say elbow).

All that said, he's 28. There's no point to adding him unless the price is cheap, and I doubt the Astros are going to sell him on the cheap. It just doesn't fit with what seems to be our timeline as of now.

but with the Astros being in the same boat as us

You're really going with this one?

In terms of exchanging players who don't figure into the future for those that do, yes. And with no urgency to move him, they'll probably expect teams to overpay.

Well, that's a hilarious way to spin your wildly incorrect statement, but whatever.
