Cubs take Hector Rondon

Did he have TJS in between 2011 & 2012?

RT @BenBadler Rondon hasn't stayed healthy last 3 years, but talked to scouts who saw him throwing hard in VZ. Not surprised he went high.

Rondon is a Tommy John surgery recover-ee.

Appears to be so

He had Tommy John after 2010 and then broke his elbow in 2011.

Yeah just saw that. TJS is one thing, but a fractured elbow....

...would seem less serious to me.

Looks like he's been pretty good at striking guys out and not walking them (prior to the injuries).

If he can hit 98 as a starter, I'm intrigued to see what he can do in the bullpen.

Where'd you see that?

Some Cleveland news article during the frantic googling. I think it was 97 or 98 in a rehab start in Arizona.

"Like any pitcher coming off surgery, his elbow is still tight, but he's been pitching well," said Ross Atkins, Indians director of player development. "He just punched out five guys in two innings in Arizona while throwing between 97 mph and 98 mph."
