In the corresponding move, Casey Coleman has been DFA'd.

Well, so much for the Vitters speculation... for now, at least.

It is. I'm mostly just sort of hoping we go back on it or Cabrera pulls a Samardzija and aces him out or something.

What's the problem? I expect Cabrera to suck as a starter. Since he's going to be tried as a starter, I hope he pulls a Samardzija and I'm wrong.

It's odd to express both of those sentiments within 24 hours of eachother.

I really don't see why. I express Ian Stewart hatred many times every 24 hours, but I still hope he hits 30 HRs if we bring him back.

I hope he hits 60....no, infinitiy.

If Ian Stewart hits infinity home runs, the season can never end and the Cubs never reach the ultimate goal, whether it be winning the World Series or seeing the All-Homegrown Right Way Lineup come to fruition.

No, it isn't. He says he thinks Cabrera sucks, but he hopes he doesn't.

My main issue is with him saying the front office is foolish and desperate for trying it.

It's pretty darn foolish. Bowden doesn't have the stuff to stick as a starter, and Cabrera's only proven he can't start every other single time he's started.

What exactly is at stake that it makes attempting to develop a player further foolish and/or desperate?

You lose their chance to be pretty good relievers in 2013.

he can hit infinity home runs without the season going on forever... it's not like he has infinite opportunities. he'll just keep hitting them next year, and then after that... until he's no longer given opportunities... at which point infinity becomes finite... or something.

I'd like to officially withdraw my hate for Dave Cameron (despite his terrible ranking of Starlin Castro's trade value), as it was actually Bradley Woodrum who wrote the dumb stuff I really didn't like.

Woodrum is terrible, but Cameron is an arrogant ass, and also often terrible.

Shark, Wood and Feldman are healthy and in the mix. Garza and Baker are returning from injury and should start when ready. We need one more who is healthy and should start . . . it's likely someone passed over by contenders but there is an outside chance it's as a result of a trade.

My initial opinion was that the Cubs would sign two but I have adopted the better argument that they would add three starting pitching candidates.
