to recap the last calendar year plus for the cardinals:

-get into playoffs after braves suffer one of the greatest collapses in history.

-beat heavily favored phillies, whose bats completely fall asleep.

-win world series over favored rangers after rangers blow a pair of two-run leads in game six. top performers include people named allen craig and david freese.

-make the playoffs in 2012 as a team that wouldn't have made the playoffs in any other year since major league baseball began.

-win "play-in" game after a disputed call and horrendous defense by the opposing team.

-win game five of NLDS after very good opposing starter struggles to hold lead, very good opposing bullpen melts down, and people named daniel descalso and peter kozma overcome a two-run deficit in the ninth inning.

You forgot the part in between where they were granted an extra draft pick because they need it for competitive balance.

They did? I thought they were one of the two "small market" teams that didn't.

They didn't. But, you see the issue with them being one of the teams in the lottery after they won it all. Right?

Monday morning at work (here in St. Louis) is going to suck. I'm going to go in early to make sure the Cubs flag in my office isn't messed with. At bare minimum some coworker Cardinal jackwagon fan will leave a newspaper posted on my door.

My in laws are cardinal fans. They buy my kids cardinal stuff. It gets donated after we open it.

You're a saint. I'd probably burn it, or give it to my dog.

They're nice people, just don't get how much I hate the cardinals. Plus I'm not gonna burn it, I have people that work under me that love the free clothes. I'm happy to help them out.

I'm glad to see everybody on here has been contemplating the same seemingly irrational thoughts that I have all night. The whole Cardinals team dying, higher beings getting involved, some sort of satanic involvement. Makes me feel completely normal again. Was starting to get worried. On a side note, I do love how many fans of other teams are acknowledging hatred towards these ridiculous circumstances. I'm sure at this point the fan bases that have new hate towards St Louis are: ATL, MIL, TEX, CIN, PIT, LA, ATL, ATL, WAS. Soon you can add SF and DET to the list too. I'm expecting when they ever do get eliminated (2018?) the number of fans showing outward jubilation will be extremely high.

I don't know about dying. The entire team testing positive for PEDs and being banned from post season play for the next 5 years would suffice.

The worst thing: if the Cardinals win the World Series, and if the Mayans have their way, the Cardinals will be World Champions for all eternity.

Are we the same person? My in-laws are Cardinals fans. We don't have kids yet, but they've been told that any Cardinals gear bought for my kids will be a waste. I have actually told them it will get burned.

Ouch...

Want Nationals World Series tickets? That is too bad, because they lost their series with the Cardinals in objectively horrifying fashion last night, and you can't even get NLCS tickets, or any tickets, because there are no more games for the Nationals. The loss was painful, the way they lost was twisting the knife, the email reminder about a World Series ticket presale fans received this morning was, I don't know, tapping the knife with a hammer a couple times? Tom B. forwards us this email he received this morning. Nats Enquirer says season ticket holders found this in their inboxes at 7:01 this morning, just when they thought they were done crying.

My wife left during the ninth inning last night. As a cardinal fan even she knew it was coming. Has to be a nice feeling.

A Cardinals fan friend of mine posted a trolling Facebook status asking whether Reds, Cubs or Nationals fans were most disappointed this morning. I don't know the guy who replied, but his reply was perfect:

"Baseball fans."

They just don't get that were all tired of the same crap over and over. And why did it have to be the two bums that got the big hits?

I thought they had got a pick in Round B, but I was wrong. That really doesn't change the point though that it is ridiculous for a team like the Cardinals to even be in the lottery for extra picks. If they can afford a $110 Million payroll, they certainly don't need any handouts.

Does anyone remember the year that Sandberg and Dunston got hurt and the Cubs had a middle infield of Paul Noce and Mike Brumley? I can't help but think if that had been the Cardinals, Noce and Brumley would have led the team to the playoffs.

I think i've watched my last baseball for the year. screw this.

I'll probably still end up watching the LCS, but if we get a Yankees-Cards World Series, I'm out.

I won't be watching, especially with Card fan Joe Buck doing play by play.

If it comes down to Yankees-Cards, I'll be the biggest Yankees fan.

I'm amending that statement after today's game. I'm definitely not watching baseball the rest of the year.
