Depends on how the season goes. I don't think Tennessee will blow out Missouri period, but I do think Tennessee might be better. If the season goes poorly, though, Mizzou may demolish us.

Probably based on respect from last year, and their close win over Lousiana-Monroe is discounted since it was Monroe's 3rd straight quality game against a BCS opponent. The computer rankings that are up would support they are pretty close as well (although they are pretty unreliable themselves at this point of the season due to lack of data). 34th in Sagarin ELO, 28th in Sagarin predictor, 28th in Colley. It's essentially picking out of a hat at this point of the season between the undefeated teams with weak schedules and the teams with stronger schedules who have a loss already.

Boise State was ranked (and is again ranked) even though Kellen Moore went pro. Florida began the 2010 season without Tebow (a season in which they went 7-5) ranked highly. It happens.

It's kind of annoying that UCLA isn't ranked while Nebraska is but rankings are relatively meaningless.

You're talking about the same Michigan State MR is, right? Why wouldn't we suspect the wheels to come off?

If you are referring to hot starts and late season collapses, that has not happened since Dantonio has taken over. They also only have 3 regular season losses combined the last 2 seasons. I understand that they have probably not been a Top 10 team, but they have had some consistency.

I'm very surprised that Michigan didn't do this first to have it end with a UM home game. There had been scuttlebutt about just such a maneuver for years.

 

It's a shame the game won't be played, but it's not like it was an annual event - as recently as 2000-01, Nebraska replaced Michigan for a couple of years. and in 1995-96, Ohio State replaced Michigan.

UM had to wait until after the game to have it end with a UM home game. Not sure if they were planning that or not. Wouldn't surprise me if they'd want to keep ND for strength of schedule reasons. But I think it'll be on again in smaller doses probably as early as 2020. But I think it was wise to kill the series when he did. ND needs to rotate some of the other series a little more to fit the ACC games and still have flexibility to get match ups with OU and Texas, etc.
