There's a case where a ref is standing there, looking right at receiver's feet from 5 feet away. Couldn't ask for a better position to observe whether both feet are down...

...and he completely misses the 2nd foot drag. Even with all the rubber shooting up from the carpet.

I mean, come on. Stop turning my favorite game into amateur hour. This has gone on long enough.

C'mon now. That had to be a pretty tough play to call, even standing right there. His 2nd foot barely touched turf, and I'd guess the ref couldn't see the carpet shooting in the air. You probably only saw it on slow motion replay yourself.

But overall, yeah these refs suck. They can't even figure out where to spot the ball half of the time.

The rubber is spitting up all over the place!!!

Anyway, did you see what they just showed? These bozos marked off 10 yards on a 5 yard penalty!

Actually, I think they marked off 11 yards.

I can't stay up for this, yeah. Fortunately it looks like Atlanta has it in hand.

Cubs to start @ 10:40pm!! Woot!

Yeah, everyone is on the refs. You had to know it would happen sooner or later.

The refs certainly suck. But compounding the issue is that they get no respect from the players or the coaches. They are getting abused, disrespected, and lobbied on every play, and its affecting the game and its affecting the way they are officiating. Enough is enough. The NFL should just settle this.

Yeah, not only are they not as good, they're hearing about it every single second. That's no way to help out the game. Players, coaches, refs, and league are at blame for this mess.

Tonight proved all of these things. Bad, but just absolutely zero control.

It's all on the league. There's no reason it needed to progress to this point. There was plenty of opportunity to come to an agreement in the offseason. It's just truly bizarre, the whole thing.

To me this is a serious black eye on the NFL brand. But, the owners apparently don't see it that way.

They don't care because there's no financial impact. People still watch.

Sure, but more & more people are getting frustrated with what they are seeing, too.

Not frustrated enough to stop watching, or buying tickets. So what's it matter to the NFL?

They might eventually stay away. Not in the short term, but if this continues, it's possible that a small number will find something else to do. Especially in those smaller, less solid markets.

Well, once they start losing money, this will get resolved really quickly. But until then, there's nothing forcing the NFL's hand.

Might have already been talked about, but I believe Fox bullied the referees to overturn their pass interference call in the first quarter. The ball was tipped by a defender, but that doesn't change the fact the receiver was being mugged well before the ball got to the defender who tipped the ball. They made the correct call at full speed at the time the play happened. In slow motion watching it over and over from different angles, they reversed the penalty.

The only explanation is they didn't want to deal with the wrath of Fox if the penalty wasn't overturned. Atlanta almost surely would have scored on that series. Instead, it forced a punt.

The overturn was correct. It doesn't matter what happens after the ball was tipped if the receiver wasn't near it when it was tipped. You can't interfere with a pass that never got to the receiver.

The mugging was taking place BEFORE the ball was tipped. And it was blatant.

ESPN's officiating dude disagreed with you.
