ND lost to MSU on a FG kicked with 0 on the clock last year.

good point, andy.

it was actually 2 yrs ago and remember it is not delay of game just because the clock says zero, it is delay of game when the ref says it is delay of game. Also I think it was actually a fake fg...but point taken.

So you agree there was no delay of game and abuck should shut his pie hole. Thanks.

ND non-football sports to the ACC (Hockey to Hockey East) gaining some traction.

Apparently the football team will agree to play 5 games per year against the ACC too.

Also this:

@edsbs: Listen, ND. I was raised Catholic, too. Halfway in counts.

Ha.

Saw the 5-game speculation. I would have preferred 4 but 5 games still gives the team some flexibility, esp if the UM series is really ending.

What's the point of 5 games? They won't be able to win ACC Titles and it limits their scheduling flexibility significantly.

Wouldn't it just be easier to make a conference consisting of ND, USC, Stanford, Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State and the service academies?

It's what they'd have to to give to the ACC in return for joining in the other sports. And it helps fill a lot of spots should megaconferences start and there is a freeze out on ND from the Big Ten or Pac 12

and ND gets full access to the ACC's non-BCS bowls, which is gold.

Eh, I guess they're already playing Wake, BC, and Miami this year anyway. It seems like the B1G would make more sense geographically for the non-revenue sports considering 7 of the schools are in IN or bordering states.

ND has 4 ACC schools already on the schedule in 2015 (Pitt, Cuse, BC, Miami) and 2016 (Pitt, Cuse, BC, Wake). Clemson was rumored to be added around that time as well.

Pretty easy to go:

5 ACC

Purdue

MSU

USC

Navy

Stanford

and have 2 left for randoms like BYU, Oklahoma, Texas, etc.

Wouldn't Purdue or Michigan State get dropped before Michigan does?

(They do play Michigan every year, right? Too lazy to look it up.)

Actually, ND and Purdue have a pretty big in-state rivalry. I doubt they'd drop that game.

Everything I'm reading says the top priorities are Navy, USC and Stanford. I presume all the 3 B1G schools would remain on the schedule consistently though (presuming they want to), if not necessarily annually.

This probably belongs in a different thread, but I think I'm more excited about the basketball team in the ACC than I am about the football part.

The AD and I think higher up than that want to keep the Purdue series going. They seem to like keeping an Indiana tie. Also, when Yost blackballed ND all those years ago for not joining the conference, all the conf teams followed his command except two. Guess which 2? Maybe coincidence, maybe not, but ND tends to have a sense of loyalty.

Michigan won't stay every year. They never have (historically bc ND dared beat them in a game or refused to join their conf). There are 5 teams that will stay as far as ND is concerned, the 5 ACC teams that have to rotate thru the whole conference every 3 years, and 2 wild cards.

It's best that ND stay away from the football factories of the Big Ten that don't care about educating their athletes, and instead associate with FSU, Miami, and UNC.

If you have to pick one or the other, yes

Why link to a post that a Big Ten alum can't read?

I clicked on that link and suddenly it was all gibberish and the diploma police came and took away my degrees and now my grammar is all run on sentences #channelingdabum

I've seen both of you read a beer list so clearly you learned something at your joke colleges
